Leading With Less: How I Found Success By Slowing Down

I used to believe that success meant doing it all — faster, louder, and without missing a beat. But building Ary + Maan, a culturally rooted children’s loungewear brand, has taught me that real leadership isn’t about doing more. It’s about knowing when to pause.

I launched Ary + Maan from a place of deep passion — inspired by my mixed-culture family and the desire to create something meaningful that helped others feel seen. As our pajamas and matching sets began reaching homes across the world, so did the pressure to keep producing, launching, and growing. It was exhilarating — until it wasn’t.

Like many purpose-driven founders, I hit a wall. I was depleted, creatively numb, and yet still pushing forward, afraid to lose momentum. That’s when I realized: the burnout I was feeling wasn’t a sign of failure — it was a signal to change the way I lead.

Redefining Productivity

The biggest shift I made was internal. I had to unlearn the belief that rest was something to earn. As a mother and entrepreneur, my energy is one of my most valuable assets — and honoring that became non-negotiable. I started operating in seasons: times to sprint, and times to step back. That seasonal rhythm gave me space to think long-term, lead with clarity, and most importantly, stay emotionally present — both at work and at home.

Leading sustainably meant getting honest with myself about my capacity, and trusting that slowing down didn’t mean I was falling behind. In fact, some of the biggest breakthroughs happened when I gave myself permission to pause.

The Power of Support Systems

One of the things that’s carried me through these seasons is community — specifically, a circle of women entrepreneurs who understand the unique weight of building something from scratch. We hold space for each other’s wins andbreakdowns, remind each other to rest, and reject the myth that constant hustle is the only path to success.

Support also looks like small, sacred rituals: ten-minute walks, journaling sessions, lighting a candle before a deep work block. They may seem insignificant, but these micro-moments anchor me in a world that moves too fast.

And when I hit capacity? I’ve learned to give myself the same grace I’d offer my team — or my child. That’s leadership, too.

When Less Leads to More

One of my proudest moments as a founder actually came after I chose to hit pause. In a moment of burnout, I stepped away from the day-to-day hustle to reflect on Ary + Maan’s purpose. That space became fertile ground. I returned with a clearer vision, a new creative direction, and eventually, a full rebrand that led to our best-selling collection to date.

Slowing down didn’t stall our growth — it sharpened it. It reminded me that we’re not just selling pajamas. We’re helping families celebrate their roots, create joyful traditions, and feel represented in the everyday.

Sustainable Leadership Starts With Us

As women in leadership, we’re often taught to perform

strength at all costs. But the truth is, sustainable leadership is soft and strong at once. It requires self-trust, boundaries, and a willingness to do things differently.

At Ary + Maan, our mission is deeply personal. We’re creating products that honor heritage, spark connection, and remind families — especially mixed-culture ones — that their stories matter. But we can’t do that from a place of burnout. So I lead with care, for myself and for the community we serve.

Because when we lead from wholeness, we don’t just win. We rise — together.
