Let’s just go ahead and say it:
Imposter syndrome is a liar.
A smooth-talking, dream-stealing, confidence-crushing liar dressed up in your voice, pretending to protect you but really, just holding you hostage.
You’ve probably heard it whisper:
“Who do you think you are?”
“You’re not qualified for this.”
“They’re going to find out you don’t have it all together.”
Sound familiar? Yeah, it sounded like my inner monologue for years.
And yet, I still said “yes” to God even while shaking in my Spanx.
Because here’s the truth bomb that set me free: You don’t have to feel ready to be called. You just have to be willing to move.
From "Why Me?" to "Why NOT Me?"
I didn’t launch my business from a corner office.
I launched it from the battlefield of obedience, broke, nervous, and fully aware I didn't know how to build a bookkeeping service.
That’s what I share in my chapter of Her Path to Entrepreneurship From Prayer to Profit: Crafting Your Business in God’s Backyard. I didn’t come into this journey with perfect confidence. I came with faith, a heart full of prayers, and a bold little whisper from God saying, “Start anyway.”
Listen, imposter syndrome doesn't always disappear when you pray. But it does start to lose power when you act in faith.
God Doesn’t Call the Confident, He Calls the Willing
Let me remind you of something important: imposter syndrome is rooted in performance. But you're calling? That’s rooted in purpose.
You’re not doing this to prove anything. You’re doing it because God planted something in you that the world needs. And newsflash: He’s not checking your resume. He’s checking your heart.
In my Prayer to Profit Workbook, I walk women through this exact tension stepping out with strategy while staying anchored in Scripture. We talk about how to…
Hear God’s voice in business decisions
Silence self-doubt with truth
Charge what you're worth (without guilt)
And show up like you actually believe you're chosen
Because you are.
Your Calling Isn’t Cancelled by Your Insecurity
Here’s something the enemy doesn’t want you to know: The very thing that makes you feel unqualified? Is probably exactly what God will use to set people free.
You know what held me back the longest? The belief that “good Christian women shouldn’t want profit.” That lie cost me years and thousands of dollars until God lovingly snatched me up and said:
“Daughter, stop the scarcity mindset and start playing bold.”
You don’t need another business plan. You need to start acting like you believe what God already told you.
Here’s How You Kick Imposter Syndrome in the Teeth (With Love)
Recognize the lie — Imposter syndrome isn’t humility, it’s fear in disguise.
Remember your source — You weren’t self-appointed, you were God-sent.
Move while nervous — Confidence comes after the step of obedience, not before.
Surround yourself with truth — Scripture. Mentors. That workbook I wrote (just sayin’).
Your Permission Slip to Show Up
Sis, this is the year you stop waiting to feel ready and start moving like you’re already chosen because you are.
If you’ve ever looked around your life and thought, “God, are you sure you picked the right girl?” I promise, he didn't stutter.
