Sometimes in life we don’t know where we’re going to be led next. When I finally decided to leave my 14-year career behind me, I really had no idea where I was headed. I just knew I desperately needed a change! My soul was urging me to lead a more fulfilling work-life. So, I took a leap of faith, cut away the safety net and jumped into the world of coaching and endless studies. After this major transition, I leaned deeply into my own healing. I honestly wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my coaches, family and friends who rallied with me. It took years of study, but I obtained my bachelor’s degree, became a Professional Certified Coach and added several healing modalities to my skill set including Kriya and Yin yoga, Emotional Freedom Techniques, sound healing, meditation and more.Â
What I didn’t realize at the time, was I needed all these wellness practices not only to heal myself but to eventually support others. For years, I knew in my heart I was being called to Vancouver Island and one day, I had a vision come to me during a meditation. I saw myself standing outside on the back deck of a wellness retreat I owned, and as I overlooked the most beautiful view of the ocean and mountains, I felt a deep feeling of purpose within myself. When I came out this incredible meditation, I felt excited and I sketched out what I saw. I had no idea how and if this vision was ever going to come into fruition. Moving across the country was a huge decision for myself and my family which required yet another leap of faith. So, after much contemplation and receiving numerous signs, we decided to sell the house and take a short trip to explore the island to see where we would settle in.Â
As we drove through the forested roads in East Sooke, my husband and I both felt a flush of warmth in our chests and the next day our realtor brought us to the most beautiful piece of land right in that area and yes, it had an incredible view of the ocean and mountains. We knew there was something special here. After the big cross country move, we took some time to settle into our rental unit and the planning process to build our house and retreat suite began. It was a 2-year process with many ups and downs. I seriously met my own fear during this process. However, with support, I kept faith and it happened! We moved into our new home and set up the retreat suite for our future guests. Since then, it has been such an incredible honor to share this space with my retreat guests.Â
When we’re given a dream, something inside us awakens and if we lean on the right support, we can heed its call, even if it is scary. I found a few key components to becoming unstoppable are leaning into my meditation practice to continually renew my faith (that can waiver at times), connecting with supportive people especially when fears and doubts inevitably arise and embrace a collaborative approach to building a dream. I know this dream we have built has purpose. My heart’s desire now is to ensure it’s no longer a best kept secret, but rather a sustainable venture that continues to provide a supportive healing space for guests seeking a transformative experience.
