Dr. Natasha Booker, LCSW: The Woman Who Teaches Black Women to Stop Asking for Permission
Updated: Aug 19

Dr. Natasha Booker ( Known as Dr. Tasha) is not interested in survival. With over 19 years of experience helping Black women heal, lead, and make powerful pivots in their lives, she has built an entire body of work around a single, uncompromising conviction: Black women were not made to shrink.
As the Founder and CEO of Pathways to Wellness in Hamden, Connecticut, Dr. Booker has created a sanctuary where ambitious Black women come to do the most courageous work of their lives: healing, leading, and pivoting with purpose. Her approach is not one-size-fits-all. It is deeply personal, culturally grounded, and unapologetically trauma-informed. And it is changing lives.
What sets Dr. Booker apart is her willingness to name what so many women feel but rarely say out loud: playing small does not always look like weakness. Often, it looks like responsibility. It looks like being easy to work with. It looks like humility. For Black women navigating systems and spaces that were not built with them in mind, playing small can quietly become a form of self-abandonment, and Dr. Booker refuses to let that go unexamined.
"Your power does not need permission," she says — and she means it in the most expansive sense of the word.
Through her counseling practice, coaching programs, speaking engagements, and organizational work, Dr. Booker equips women to break free from the autopilot patterns that keep them stuck. She teaches them to stop overthinking and start building businesses, lives, and legacies that align with who they truly are, what they deeply value, and the impact they were called to make.
Her message speaks directly to the woman who has been told, explicitly or implicitly, that her ambition is too much, her voice too loud, her vision too big. Dr. Booker does not ask her to dial it down. She asks her to turn it up: de and do too much!

At the heart of her work is a distinction she returns to often: the difference between surviving and thriving. Many high-achieving women have mastered the former while quietly starving for the latter. They have checked every box, met every expectation, and still feel like something essential is missing. Dr. Booker knows why, and she knows what to do about it.
"Unstoppable women are not women who never feel fear," she teaches. "They are women who decide fear will no longer be the final authority in their lives."
That reframe is the foundation of the transformation she facilitates. Whether she is working with a client in her therapy practice, leading a workshop, or recording an episode of her And Another Thing podcast on YouTube, Dr. Booker consistently guides women back to the same essential question: not "Will they approve of me?" but "Am I being faithful to the life I know I'm called to lead?"
That shift from seeking external validation to anchoring in internal truth is where she says everything changes. Visibility. Leadership. Wealth. Healing. Impact. All of it begins when a woman stops asking for permission to take up space.
Dr. Natasha Booker is the permission she never needed. She is the proof that a Black woman can build something powerful, lead with her whole self, and refuse to make herself smaller to keep anyone comfortable.
She is, in every sense of the word, unstoppable.
