Energy Is the Ultimate Currency

I have lived both sides of this energy reality. In my early 40s, I crashed—hard. I was a single mom, financially stretched, emotionally depleted, and physically unrecognizable… even to myself. I was moody, overweight, and running on fumes. I closed my medical practice, rented out my home just to stay afloat, and was living paycheck to paycheck with no energy, no drive and too little hope.
Today, I’m thriving, serving thousands of women around the world, helping them do the same. And the greatest lesson I learned, one I now teach every day, is this:
Energy is the real wealth.
Energy isn’t a buzzword. It’s the power that allows you to create, connect, love, lead, and yes—build financial abundance. When your energy flows, everything flows. When it tanks, nothing else matters.
Energy, when cultivated intentionally, is renewable. It’s a currency you can invest in, compound, and multiply—if you understand how the body works.
Sleep Is the First Investment
If energy is currency, sleep is the foundation of the economy.
Poor sleep suppresses growth hormone and spikes cortisol—the stress hormone that drains vitality, promotes fat storage, and clouds thinking. I see this constantly in my Girlfriend Doctor Club: women running on five hours of sleep, pushing through exhaustion, then wondering why they can’t stick to healthy habits or feel motivated.
Sleep is not optional. It’s strategic.
Your Adrenals Are the Bank
Your adrenal glands regulate how you respond to stress. Chronic stress overdrafts them. Cortisol stays elevated, blood sugar becomes unstable, and energy crashes follow.
I’ve tested this on myself using continuous glucose monitoring.
Try this quick energy swap: Coffee first thing in the morning (even black) will create a blood sugar spike… and then a crash. Try waiting an hour or two on the coffee, hydrating with warm lemon water instead if you want to see smooth, steady energy all day.
Fuel the Body to Refill the Tank
This is literally why I developed the Keto-Green® approach, which is alkalizing, anti-inflammatory, rich in healthy fats and greens, and low in sugar. When women shift how they fuel their bodies, their energy rebounds.
Supportive botanicals like maca can be transformative for adrenal health, mood, and libido. I’ve watched women drop weight, calm hot flashes, regain confidence, and finally act on dreams they’d been shelving for years—all because their energy returned.
When energy comes back, possibility follows.
Emotional Energy Matters Too
Energy isn’t only physical. It’s emotional and spiritual, too. Gratitude journaling is one of my daily deposits. Visualization is another.
I’ll never forget my daughter Ava, after the hurricanes, imagining a soccer field where there was none. That vision, held with joy and belief, became real. That’s energy at work.
Inside our community, women uncover their “why”: healing old wounds, reclaiming worthiness, rewriting identity. That inner fire fuels outer action.
And remember—stress builds the wrong kind of bulk. Cortisol creates the “stress pack.” Channeled energy builds strength, clarity, and resilience.
Relationships Are a High-Yield Investment
Oxytocin (the hormone of connection) is richer than gold. Hugs, laughter, intimacy, presence all help to replenish energy.
I teach women to prioritize themselves first, then give from overflow. Volunteer. Host sister circles. Create joy. Giving energy, when done from fullness, boomerangs back exponentially.
I’ve gone from depleted and broke in every measurable way to living a life of impact and abundance—not because I chased money, but because I learned to bank my energy first.
And that is wealth that never depreciates.
