Finding My Voice—and Helping Others Find Theirs

My journey has never been about fitting into a single lane. It has been about honoring every layer of who I am—faith-driven, purpose-led, media-minded, and deeply committed to helping people heal, speak, and rise.

I was born in Harlem and raised in North Carolina, two places that shaped my understanding of resilience, community, and the power of my voice. From an early age, I learned how powerful it is to be seen and heard—and how damaging it can be when voices are silenced. Those early lessons would later inform my life’s work.

Today, I am an Author, Mental Health Educator, and Dementia Practitioner, media executive, and speaker.

While those titles may seem diverse, they are all rooted in one mission: empowering individuals and communities to live whole, authentic, and unapologetic lives.

My professional path led me to earn a Ph.D. and work extensively in mental health education, trauma-informed care, and dementia advocacy. I’ve supported families navigating grief, identity loss, and unspoken pain—especially among seniors and caregivers who are often overlooked in wellness conversations. In these spaces, I learned that healing begins when people feel safe enough to speak their truth.

At the same time, my passion for entertainment, storytelling and representation pulled me into the media. As CEO of Sapphire Entertainment & Media Management and publisher of The Industry Highlighter Magazine, I create platforms that spotlight purpose-driven creatives, entrepreneurs, and leaders whose stories deserve visibility. Media, when used intentionally, becomes more than exposure—it becomes impact.

One of the most defining chapters of my journey has been writing my new book, SPEAK: You Have a Voice, It’s Time to Use It. This project was born from my own experiences, years of counseling sessions, workshops, and conversations with people who felt muted by fear, trauma, or expectation. The message is simple but transformative: you have a voice, and it matters.

Whether I’m speaking on boundaries, leading elder abuse awareness trainings, hosting wellness workshops, or mentoring creatives, my work sits at the intersection of faith, mental health, and media. I believe visibility is healing. I believe storytelling is sacred. And I believe that when one person finds the courage to speak, it gives permission for others to do the same.

Being featured in PODCASTARS Magazine is an extension of that mission. It’s an opportunity to remind readers that their stories—messy, powerful, and unfinished—are worthy of the spotlight. We rise higher when we rise together, voices intact and unapologetically heard.
