Hi, my name is Darrelle Radcliff. My journey hasn’t been easy, but every challenge I’ve faced has made me stronger. I was born with high-functioning autism, learning disabilities, developmentally delayed, speech impediment, stuttering and throughout school—even into college—they made every class feel like an uphill climb. From elementary school to high school I had an IEP which is an Individualized Education Plan that outlines the special education programs and services required for a student based on their strengths and needs. I would have a specialist in class with me helping me take notes in the classes, help with in-class assignments, and help me understand what we were learning in class. When I was in preschool I was in a bad car accident where half of my body went through a Ford car windshield and because of that I have a slight memory problem which did not help with all my disabilities I was born with and I’m still trying to overcome that problem. For years, I struggled to earn good grades but 31 classes in college that I did not pass, but I never gave up. With the support of my family and my college’s disability program, I pushed forward. I started college Fall of 2000 just 2 months after graduating high school. After 25 years of perseverance, I’m proud to say that I’ve earned five college degrees across different fields of study; LA: Arts & Humanities (AA) 2022, Drama (AA) 2023, Film, TV and Elect Media (AA) 2024, Culinary/Hospitality (AS) 2025, and LA: Social & Behavior Sci (AA) 2025 plus my GPA at the end of my college journey was 2.963 something that I had never done in all my schooling. I also went to Laurus College where I got a certificate of completion in professional business support and medical billing. Growing up, I battled self-confidence and self-esteem issues caused from verbal, emotional, and physical abuse from my grandmother. I also had sexual assaults 2 in fact at 9 years old and 16 years old that it messed up my self-confidence and self-esteem plus it does not help that my mother has her own mental health issues. All the traumatic events that happened at a young age I know have PTSD, depression, and anxiety disorders. My peers and even some family members made fun of me for being “different.” But joining VIP Ignite and Truth Management gave me a new sense of strength. Weekly coaching calls with inspiring speakers helped me find my voice and believe in myself.

VIP Ignite asks us talent what is our “why” we want to be in the entertainment industry which for me is to prove to myself and the doubters that I can reach the goals and dreams I have for myself but I also want to inspire others with disabilities that they can reach their goals and dreams in their own life but my main goal is to get off social security to have more financial freedom to enjoy life and maybe one day buy my own home. Through college, I also discovered my passion for film. A short film I created in class has now been accepted into 26 film festivals, and my three unproduced scripts that I have written have made it into 11 film festivals around the world. I still have 46 film festivals but I’m waiting to hear from them to see if I was selected to be in their film festival throughout this year and into 2026. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: never let anything hold you back from your dreams. Give life your best shot—you might just surprise yourself.
