From India to Poland: My Journey of Growth and Empowerment

Moving to a new country is never easy. It means stepping into the unknown, leaving behind familiarity, and facing unexpected challenges. When I moved from India to Wroclaw, Poland, in September 2022, I knew this journey wouldn’t be simple. Yet, I also knew that growth comes from pushing ourselves beyond our comfort zones.

One of the biggest challenges was the language barrier. Simple tasks like shopping or asking for directions became frustrating. At times, I felt isolated, struggling to communicate and feeling out of place. Another major challenge was building a community. In India, I had family and friends; in Poland, I had to start from scratch. It wasn’t just about finding people, it was about creating meaningful connections.

Turning Challenges into Opportunities

Instead of waiting for things to get easier, I made a conscious effort to connect with others. I started attending various events, and meeting other expats. Over time, I became the GGI's Wroclaw community leader for Girl Gone International (GGI), a global network of women supporting each other.

GGI became more than just a group; it was a space where expat women, just like me, could find friendship, advice, and support. I saw women arriving in Poland, feeling the same way I had felt, uncertain but hopeful. Through GGI, we built a space where we uplifted one another, proving that no woman should ever feel alone in her journey.

But my impact didn’t stop there. Having worked as a Career Consultant, I saw so many talented professionals struggle with direction, job searches, and self-confidence. That’s when I founded Get Me Hired, a startup dedicated to helping individuals navigate their careers. Whether through coaching, resume building, or mentorship, I help people unlock their potential and take control of their professional paths. Seeing my clients land jobs they love has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

As I settled in, I also made Poland my home by purchasing a house, deepening my connection to this beautiful country. If there’s one lesson I’ve learned through my journey, it’s that resilience is our greatest strength. As women, we often second-guess ourselves. We hesitate to take risks, to start over, to chase our ambitions. But the truth is, we are capable of incredible things. The moment we decide to stop waiting for the perfect opportunity and instead create our own, everything changes.

I want every woman to remember this: You are stronger than you think. You have the power to redefine your life, to carve out a space where you belong, and to build a future that excites you.

Whether it’s moving to a new country, changing careers, starting a business, or buying your first home, don’t let fear hold you back. Growth happens when we push ourselves beyond what we thought was possible.

I won’t say my journey has been easy, but I will say it’s been worth it. Looking back, I realize that the struggles I faced weren’t obstacles, they were stepping stones. Each challenge I overcame shaped me into the woman I am today: a leader, a mentor, an entrepreneur, a home owner, and, most importantly, someone who refuses to let fear dictate her choices.

So, my message to every woman reading this: Take the leap. Step outside your comfort zone. And most importantly, believe in yourself. Because when women rise, we all rise.
