From Nobody to No More: How One Woman Is Reimagining Fashion with Purpose

Fashion has always had the power to tell stories, but somewhere along the way, many of those stories were silenced. Behind every beautiful garment are invisible hands: the makers, the stitchers, the women whose skill and labour often go unseen. For Silva Hrabar-Owens, founder of No More Nobody, that invisibility became impossible to ignore and impossible to accept.
No More Nobody began as a deeply personal response to an industry that too often forgets its people and its impact. Silva, a designer, storyteller, and rebel at heart, spent twenty years working in fashion buying and merchandising before deciding to challenge the system from within.
Raised in Eastern Europe, against the backdrop of post-communist resilience, women’s stitching circles, and the shadow of war, Silva saw from an early age how women’s work was both powerful and undervalued. That experience shaped her perspective: fashion should not only be about what we wear, but who we honour in the process.
“This brand gave me purpose when I needed it most. I want every woman who wears our pieces to feel that same sense of power, of being seen, valued, and proud of what they carry on their shoulders,” says Silva.
During a time of personal transformation, Silva began stitching together a new vision - literally and metaphorically. She reclaimed forgotten fabrics and began creating one-of-a-kind garments, turning waste into beauty and invisibility into recognition. Those first pieces became the foundation of No More Nobody, a label built on community, circularity, and care.
The name itself is a manifesto: no more invisibility, no more extraction, no more silent suffering disguised as luxury. Instead, No More Nobody stands for bold, conscious fashion, made with and for women whose stories deserve the spotlight.
Every collection is co-created with women-led social enterprises and ethical makers around the world. Each garment carries a name, often of the woman who helped make it. From Habiba’s Blouse to The Michelle Dress, each piece becomes a thread in a global story of resilience and creativity.
But No More Nobody is more than a brand. It’s a growing collective of makers, and wearers who believe in beauty that uplifts rather than undermines. By using reclaimed and recycled materials - from deadstock fabrics to recycled sterling silver for its jewellery line - the brand turns what was once discarded into something desirable again.
It’s fashion with gratitude stitched into every seam: gratitude for the hands that make, the materials that endure, and the women who wear each piece with intention.
In a world dominated by fast fashion and greenwashing, Silva’s vision is quietly radical. Her brand invites consumers to slow down, to think, and to see value beyond price tags - to appreciate creativity as a form of connection and gratitude.

And perhaps that’s what glamour needs to mean now, not excess or perfection, but purpose. A shift from consumption to contribution, from trends to transformation.
This holiday season, No More Nobody reminds us that real style doesn’t come from mass production, it comes from meaning. From the community. From the courage to say no more to systems that harm and yes to stories that heal.
From forgotten to reimagined. From nobody to no more.
This is fashion, remade- by Silva, and by everyone who joins her in reclaiming what matters.
