Life After I Left with Cat Dunn

When I first dreamt up Life After I Left, it wasn’t meant to be a podcast.
It began as a live speaker’s event in Melbourne. No one was inviting me to share my story on their stage, so I built my own. And what started as one night of storytelling and courage has now grown into a movement, with four sold-out events in only eleven months, and a growing community of women who are ready to speak up and own their truth.
Launching the Life After I Left Podcast on 21 May 2025 felt like the next natural step. The stage gives women a microphone for one night; the podcast gives them a global platform that lasts forever.
Every Thursday morning, I sit down for honest, raw, and sometimes laugh-until-you-cry conversations with women who’ve lived through change. The kind of change that breaks you open and rebuilds you from the inside out. It’s a space for the real stories: the struggles, the triumphs, and the moments that shaped us.
Our guests include storytellers, business owners, and everyday women who’ve navigated new chapters in their lives. We’ve heard stories of surviving domestic violence, overcoming grief, and learning about perimenopause to re-discovering themselves after careers, relationships, or identities they’ve outgrown. Each episode is a reminder that no matter what you’ve walked through, you’re not alone.
The show has reached listeners in 11 countries, with an 80% female audience and growing community of 41 followers and over 475 downloads. We’ve released 25 episodes so far, but what really matters to me are the messages I receive every week.
Women who tell me they finally feel seen. Listeners who say they’re inspired to change their lives, start their own businesses, or share their stories for the first time. That’s what Life After I Left is all about: helping people find their voice after silence, shame, or survival.
Because let’s be honest - society doesn’t always make space for women’s messy, complicated stories.
We’re told to move on quietly, to stay strong, to keep it private. This podcast exists to do the exact opposite. It’s time to normalise talking about the things we’ve been told to hide, including the heartbreaks, the healing, and the rebirth that comes after.
When I record each episode, I’m not looking for perfection or polish. I’m looking for the guest’s truth. The kind that cracks you open a little and lets the light in. My guests are brave enough to show up and share their real lives, not just their highlight reels. And that vulnerability is what connects us all.
If you’re navigating your own “life after”, whether that’s after leaving a relationship, a job, a belief, or a version of yourself that no longer fits, you’ll find comfort, courage, and community in these conversations. And if you’ve got a story burning inside you that the world needs to hear, I want to hear from you!

Because stories have power. They bridge the gap between where we’ve been and where we’re going. They remind us that even after the darkest chapters, there’s still more to write.
So, every week, we show up. Not to be perfect, but to be honest. We laugh, we cry, we share, and we heal together.
Life After I Left isn’t just a podcast; it’s a safe space, a stage, and a reminder that your story matters - every messy, beautiful, brave part of it.
Remember: Don’t be silent. Be unstoppable.
