A few years ago, I never imagined that what began as our family’s web series would evolve into Life with the Rankins Podcast: A Conversation on Faith, Family & Film. Back then, we called it Life with the Rankins—a fun and heartfelt series where our family captured moments from our lives, shared behind-the-scenes experiences, and interviewed fellow actors, producers, and creatives on set. Those early conversations planted a seed that would later grow into something bigger.

During that time, the Lord led me to take what we were already doing and advance it further. He showed me the podcast as a way to connect, inspire, and pull back the curtain on what life in the entertainment world truly looks like for a working family. That’s how Life with the Rankins Podcast was born—an open, honest, and often humorous conversation about navigating faith, family, and show business, all in one journey.

Once I shared the vision with my husband, Thomas “Da Answer” Rankins, and our children—Jah’Mir, Braelyn, and Brielle—everyone was instantly on board. We’d already been living this story; now it was time to tell it in our own voices. Together, we built something that felt uniquely “us.” I serve as the Creator, Executive Producer, and Co-Host, while Thomas acts as both Producer and Co-Host, guiding the creative flow with his production skills and quick wit.

Each of our kids brings their own spark to the show. Jah’Mir Poteat, an actor and music producer known for his roles in commercials and television shows—and for selling music to Shaquille O’Neal—often dives into discussions about growth and perseverance in the industry. Braelyn Rankins, an actor and singer known for his work in film and television, shares his first-hand experiences and practical advice for aspiring young performers. Brielle Rankins, our youngest, brings her natural humor, heart, and fresh perspective that keeps every episode grounded and fun.

Our son Toma’rez Rankins, a creative and aspiring director, joined later in 2024 while balancing college and the military. Since coming aboard, he’s brought a new creative edge to the team as we head into Season 2—helping shape production ideas, guest concepts, and visual storytelling. Together, this family-driven project has grown into something far beyond what we first imagined.

Every episode of Life with the Rankins gives listeners a front-row seat to real-life conversations about the entertainment business, family dynamics, and the balance between creativity and faith. We talk about what it’s like working on set, learning to pivot in a competitive industry, and the lessons we’ve learned from both success and struggle. We also invite notable guests from film, television, and music who share their journeys and insights, offering listeners valuable tools for their own paths.

Though faith remains at the heart of our family, the podcast isn’t a ministry—it’s a mix of laughter, learning, and honest talk about life in entertainment. We often discuss how values, balance, and prayer help us stay grounded amid the highs and lows of this business. It’s that blend of inspiration and practical wisdom that keeps our listeners tuning in week after week.

You can listen to Life with the Rankins Podcast: A Conversation on Faith, Family & Film on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Alexa, and all major podcast platforms. Whether you’re an actor, a parent, or simply someone chasing a dream, there’s something in every episode for you.

For our family, this podcast is more than a platform—it’s our way of connecting with others who believe that storytelling, creativity, and authenticity still matter. We’re proof that when families work together, dreams can turn into legacies—and that faith and perseverance can carry you all the way from the living room to Hollywood and beyond.
