Maiara’s character, Charlie, is overwhelmed by the relentless demands of a social media obsessed, domineering boss, and the mounting strain of her unraveling relationship with Atticus, played by Cameron Cowperthwaite (Fallout, Dahmer). Hoping to salvage what’s left, she agrees to an unusual creative proposition from an avant-garde photographer, played by Mark Hapka (23 Blast, Hot Take: Depp/Heard Trial), and his abstract artist partner, Naomi, played by Maya Stojan (Castle, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) What begins as an intimate dinner party, spirals into a nightmare of jealousy, betrayal, and emotional devastation.
In the midst of a growing cultural interest in unconventional relationship structures, Bight explores open relationships, and the risks that emerge when partners are dishonest or fundamentally misaligned. In the quest to save a relationship, the illusion of freedom can become its own kind of shackle. The film offers a dark, twisted look at the psychology of modern dating.
Maiara hopes audiences leave questioning their own moral compass, and that the film’s polarizing nature sparks deeper clarity about what they want, need, and tolerate in their own relationships.
