This month, we celebrate Women’s History. This is a great time to honor our collective history while attending to our legacy, impact and future. As we celebrate the impactful contributions of women across our nation, past and present, consider your history.
Consider the rich history of your family, professional journey, and personal trailblazing. Ask yourself what are the ways in which history shows up in your life. If your journey is anything like my journey, you are likely to have a history of resilience. If you are reading this article, you have survived 100% of yesterdays! Accordingly, take a moment to recognize and memorialize your powerful history. Make this history a ‘high story’ by taking account of each of your wins over the years.
Try pairing your vision board with a history board, a board of your accomplishments, accolades, and acknowledgements. This board might include your favorite anniversary or Mother’s Day card. It could include pictures from your graduation or retirement party. It might even entail a recap of the initiatives, programs, and services you have implemented as a professional, or your business logo, cards, and signage. As you document your history of success, celebrate, and then center.
It is important to center ourselves in the things that empower us. As you unpack your history, you may discover or remember some not so shining moments. Moreover, you may wish there were more on your history board or that your achievements were more recent. This is okay.
This month, as we celebrate Women’s History Month, you can decide to make history! You can chart a new course! You can aim for greater success, new horizons, and transformative opportunities. You can begin writing your history today!

Consider this exercise. Write your obituary today. Write it with your legacy in mind. Ask yourself:
What are the most important relationships in my life and how do I invest in those relationships now?
What do I want to happen for others as a result of my living and how do I chart a course for impact now?
Beyond the dates of my birth and passing, what do I want noted about the life that I lived and how will I begin to ensure these milestones, memories, and moments now?
Similarly, you might begin crafting your history-making journey by writing an outline of your story for a history book. If you were detailing your story for a history book, how would you articulate your:
Early years
Key milestones
Lessons learned
Impact
Together, each of these areas represents a powerful opportunity to claim your history while planning for a history-making journey.
This month, join me in honoring our rich collective history, celebrating your personal history, and making the commitment to make history! Happy Women’s History Month!
