In the world of beauty, few names shine as brightly as Maureen Denise McDonald. A visionary entrepreneur, licensed cosmetologist, community leader, and founder of Diva Designs Hair Studio, Maureen has spent over 30 years weaving together artistry, resilience, and empowerment. Her career isn’t just about hairstyles and cosmetics—it’s about building confidence, creating opportunities, and uplifting her community.
Born in South Carolina on January 21, 1967, Maureen’s journey began with a love for beauty and fashion that blossomed into a lifelong pursuit. After graduating from beauty school, she furthered her education at the National Institute of Cosmetology, where she earned her doctorate in 2011. With decades of hands-on experience, Maureen has transformed her salon into more than a place of beauty—it is a sanctuary where clients walk in for a service and leave with renewed self-esteem.
At Diva Designs Hair Studio, Maureen emphasizes healthy hair practices as the foundation of true beauty. She educates clients on proper care, offers modern techniques tailored to each hair type, and stays ahead of industry innovations. “Great hair isn’t just about style—it’s about health and confidence,” she shares. Her ability to connect beauty with well-being has made her a trusted name not only in South Carolina but beyond.
Her entrepreneurial spirit doesn’t stop there. In 2016, Maureen launched Bavoni Cosmetics, an inclusive makeup line designed to celebrate the beauty of all skin tones. Although the pandemic temporarily slowed the brand’s momentum, Maureen is determined to relaunch Bavoni stronger than ever. For her, makeup is more than color—it’s a tool of self-expression, empowerment, and representation.
But Maureen’s story goes far beyond beauty. She is also a Certified Community Healthcare Worker, a role that allows her to bridge the gap between healthcare and her community. Through this work, she ensures that individuals have access to the education, resources, and support needed for healthier lives. Her dedication to service proves that her mission is as much about inner wellness as it is about outward beauty.
Her passion for community extends even further. Maureen founded an alumni organization designed to unite graduates from two local high schools, with plans to transform it into a nonprofit. Its mission: to provide scholarships, mentorship, and community services to the next generation of leaders. In addition, she created the Annual Sneaker Ball, a vibrant fundraising event where fashion meets philanthropy. Proceeds from the event directly support community initiatives, proving that joy, style, and generosity can exist side by side.
Through every challenge, Maureen has displayed resilience and determination. The pandemic may have tested her businesses, but it only strengthened her vision. She continues to inspire others through her ability to adapt, rebuild, and keep pushing forward with creativity and heart.
Her journey is also one of legacy. As a mother of two and grandmother of three, Maureen leads by example, showing her family and community what it means to persevere, innovate, and give back. Her story is a reminder that beauty is more than surface—it’s the power to inspire, heal, and bring people together.

Looking to the future, Maureen is focused on expanding her impact in the beauty industry while deepening her community work. With plans to relaunch Bavoni Cosmetics, grow Diva Designs Hair Studio, and continue championing wellness and education initiatives, she is a woman on a mission to leave a lasting mark.
For Maureen Denise McDonald, beauty has never been just about appearance—it’s about confidence, connection, and community. Whether she’s styling hair, creating cosmetics, or leading a fundraiser, she embodies the essence of empowered beauty: resilient, radiant, and rooted in purpose.
