The Creation of Ellevate Her: A Lifelong Vision Realized
In the fall of 2023, Melissa launched Ellevate Her, a foundation based in Florida that is more than just a center for healing; it is a sanctuary where women can come together in a nurturing community to learn, grow, and express themselves. For Melissa, the timing of the foundation's launch was deeply personal and symbolic. She attributes much of the center's creation to what she refers to as "divine timing," where all of her life’s experiences, education, and global exposure came together at the right moment to serve others. "All of my life’s experiences and education were able to come together at this time to help others along their healing paths," she says, reflecting on the foundation's beginnings.
A Lifetime of Learning and Mentorship
Melissa’s journey to becoming a leader in healing and empowerment didn’t happen overnight. She acknowledges the importance of mentorship and guidance in her life, having studied healing programs, wellness retreats, and artistic workshops around the world. Each of these experiences was pivotal in shaping the programs offered at Ellevate Her. From art therapy to yoga, breathwork, and even cold plunging, every modality has been personally explored by Melissa on her own path to healing. "Every program we offer at EH I have personally studied, used, and found helpful along my personal journey," she shares. "Art therapy can provide a safe environment for authentic expression, an opportunity to 'verbalize' inner emotions without having to talk, can help contain overwhelming emotions, and help reconcile negative feelings," Melissa explains. The creative process allows women to connect with their innermost selves, using artistic expression as a means of self-discovery and emotional healing.
The “Rise, Melissa” Art Series: A Collaborative Journey of Transformation
Melissa’s personal journey of resilience and empowerment is perhaps most vividly captured in her art series, "Rise, Melissa." This collection of six artworks is a collaborative effort between Melissa and world-renowned photographer Robert Farber, with whom she has shared both a personal and professional relationship for over 25 years. Their creative partnership, which began in 1999, has produced a body of work that seamlessly blends photography and painting to tell a compelling narrative of transformation.
"Combining my true emotion and his elegant lens, we were able to connect sight and feeling as subject and photographer," Melissa reflects on the collaboration. The "Rise, Melissa" series takes viewers on a powerful journey of growth, resilience, and self-discovery, using vivid colors and evocative imagery to convey the emotional experiences Melissa has encountered throughout her life.

In one word, community," she emphasizes. The center is designed to be a supportive environment where women can heal and grow together. We at EH are proud to say that we cater programs to each specific case," Melissa explains.
