My journey into becoming the host of the award-winning podcast, No Limits with lisa Jacovsky

Becoming the host of a podcast was never a major goal of mine. In fact, I don’t often listen to podcasts myself, though I’ve always enjoyed the ones I came across. But once I became a children’s book author, something shifted.
In January 2021, I started doing interviews on other podcasts, and I discovered how much I enjoyed it. That planted a small idea in the back of my mind: maybe I could do this too. The thought stayed with me until one day, during a phone interview with an author who is now a close friend, said, “You should think about starting your own podcast.” I was surprised, but I realized it was the sign I needed.
I shared my doubts with her: What equipment would I need? What topics would I cover? How would I even post it? She not only gave me the practical information but also the encouragement I truly needed. And that’s how No Limits with Lisa Jacovsky was born.
At first, the podcast was a space for me to share insights from my career that could serve as positive resources for families with children on the autism spectrum. My first few episodes were just me talking. Then I invited another author friend to be my first guest, because she was doing unique and inspiring things with her books. That interview changed everything.
From then on, the podcast shifted into something bigger: highlighting individuals and organizations who are making a difference in the world. Sometimes I reached out to them, and other times, they reached out to me. Before long, I had so many interviews lined up that I had to start keeping a list. I was amazed, and thrilled, that people actually wanted to be on my podcast.
The podcast has led to so many incredible opportunities. Not only did it allow me to highlight the inspiring work of others, but it also gave me the chance to show that being different doesn’t mean being limited. That message, that limits don’t have to apply, became the true heart of No Limits.
Hosting the show also helped me grow. In the beginning, I would write too many questions and let the conversations run long. With the guidance of my author friend, who became a wonderful mentor, I learned to structure my interviews into focused 30-minute episodes.
Podcasting also helped me step out of my shell and work through my social anxiety. I had to reach out to guests, respond professionally and promptly, and truly step into the role of a host.

Through this journey, I’ve learned so much and met incredible people, many of whom I now call friends. What started as a small idea has turned into an inspiring adventure that I am deeply grateful to have begun. And this is only the beginning.
I love the quote, “What challenges you make you stronger”. Being a podcast host was a challenge, and it has now encouraged me to have the confidence to do many other things that were scary. There's a lot more to my story as a podcast host, but for now I challenge you to do one thing that scares you too and see the wonderful journey it takes you on.
