Overcoming Imposter Syndrome in Business: Why You Don’t Need a Permission Slip to Lead

Let’s be honest. Starting a new year as a woman in business sounds cute on paper. New goals, fresh vision board, maybe even a new planner with all the tabs and scriptures. But behind the highlight reels and motivational quotes, too many of us are still battling something way sneakier than burnout: Imposter Syndrome.

You know the voice.

The one whispering, “Who do you think you are?”

Or worse, “You’re not qualified. Someone else could do this better.”

Spoiler alert: That voice is a liar.

I remember launching my business after walking through betrayal, brokenness, and a financial crisis that nearly took me out as in praying over the light bill and still tithing out of faith levels of broke. I was a certified Profit First coach, but in the background? I was questioning everything.

How could God use me to build something meaningful when I still had pieces of me that weren’t “together”?

The enemy loves to sell us the lie that if we’re not polished, we’re not powerful. That until we feel “ready,” we can’t lead. But if God only used the qualified, half your Bible wouldn’t exist.

Gideon was scared. Moses stuttered. Esther had no experience. And yet, they led movements. They didn't need a stacked resume, they just needed obedience.

So if imposter syndrome has been riding shotgun in your business journey, let me drop a truth bomb in your spirit:

You’re not an imposter. You’re evidence.

Evidence that God can take the least likely and make them legacy-builders. Evidence that your pain can preach. That your story can sell not because it’s flawless, but because it’s real.

That’s why I created the Rise Above Workbook. Not as another to-do list for Christian entrepreneurs, but as a guide for women like us,faith-filled, purpose-driven, but sometimes shook. Women who are called to lead but quietly battling self-doubt.

Inside the workbook, we walk through what it looks like to S.O.A.R. to Strategize with faith, Optimize your gifts, Activate your voice, and Reflect God’s glory in how you show up. Because success in the Kingdom doesn’t look like hustle culture, it looks like obedience on purpose.

Sis, imposter syndrome can’t survive where identity is rooted. And your identity? It’s not in likes, followers, or five-figure launches. It’s in Christ.

You’re chosen.

You’re anointed.

And yes, you’re qualified.

So as you enter this new year, don’t shrink to fit someone else’s version of “humble.” Don't delay the vision because you're still doubting the vessel. And definitely don’t let fear tell you that you need more certifications before you start serving.

What you need is clarity. Confidence. And a reminder that courage isn’t the absence of fear,it’s moving anyway because God said go.

And if you need help doing that? The InspireHer:

Embracing Change and Transformation Anthology is packed with women who’ve walked through the fire, faced their fears, and are still rising with receipts. Because when one woman rises, we all do.

Imposter syndrome doesn’t get the final say. Faith does.
