Performance Without Burnout

The single biggest change I made to help me focus and perform without burning out is to make a schedule that breaks my entire work day down by 30 minute segments. I tend to procrastinate and having this schedule really made me keep better track of time. When a 30 minute segment would end and I had not written any real work or task in the time block, I would immediately jump to tackling a task that I could get done to avoid having to leave that slot blank for the day.

In regards to protecting energy, I find it most important to stay away from negative people if at all possible. Unfortunately, with a service-based business, you often deal with negative customers, but if you can remain pleasant, you'd be surprised at how often that energy changes to be positive and you can maintain your mindset rather than having it crumble from a negative experience.

I believe that the biggest productivity belief that needs to be challenged is a work/life balance.

I do not believe it is possible to accomplish anything great without going through seasons of extreme focus and dedication to that task. This means, during those seasons, your balance for "life" will be thrown off and things may start to crumble. It is important to circle back and nurture those areas and maintain those personal relationships, but in order to accomplish extraordinary results, you need to sacrifice "balance" in other areas at times.
