Purpose and Gratitude: The Two Pillars of Our Remote Culture

At Sky & Sol, our company culture is built on two pillars: a powerful purpose and a deep practice of gratitude. As a co-founder leading a completely remote team, I’ve found these values aren't just nice to have—they are the essential framework for our success and resilience.
Our purpose was born from a personal need. When my partner and co-founder, Max, was packing to hike Mt. Kilimanjaro, he was frustrated by the lack of clean, non-toxic sunscreens. When he returned, we saw a clear gap in the market. We dove into the research, created a minimum viable product, and partnered with professional manufacturers to bring our vision for clean skincare to life.
That single product sparked a total shift in our own lives. We slowly embraced a healthier, non-toxic lifestyle—exercising more, changing our diet, and being mindful of our environment. This personal journey cemented our company’s mission: Health is everything. Without it, nothing thrives.
We want to help millions of people prioritize their health, starting with skincare, so they can pursue what matters most. We’ve been humbled to hear from cancer survivors, people with severe sun allergies, and parents who tell us our products have changed their lives.
While this mission is our "why," our practice of gratitude is our "how." It's the strategic core of our culture. As a leader, I believe it's not just a feeling - it's a deliberate business practice.
Gratitude is woven into our operations. During our weekly team meetings, we dedicate time to celebrate wins, big or small, and publicly thank the people who helped us achieve them. I start my own day by naming my blessings, and we extend this practice to our community. We call customers and business partners simply to say thank you for their support.
This dual focus creates a culture where everyone feels part of something bigger than themselves and, just as importantly, knows their work is seen and valued. It’s a mindset that has allowed us to serve hundreds of thousands of people and grow a community of one million followers, and we will always keep this mission and mindset at the center of everything we do.
