Real Estate Elegance & Design

By Cheryle Brown-Williamson

I have always had a desire to make things look good (to me). And somehow other people always liked the way I made things look good. I really don’t have to try it is a natural thing for me to do. I’m always asked if can I train or teach someone to be a designer. I can give some basic ideas but design, the knack of pulling things together to make it look good and cohesive is a talent that is inside.

My interior design started through the process of a new home. During the selection of the items for the home, I had to work with a designer to help pick what would look best in my home. I told the designer helping me, I would love your job and continued to grill her on how she got this type of job. After much research, I found Home Staging more appealing than going to school for the lengthy study of interior design. That is how I got certified and created a business.

As I aligned my natural talent with the goals that I wanted for myself, it was becoming a possibility and not just a dream. All this was before HGTV and all the home staging shows.

After working with friends & family, in Florida I started working with a builder, I work with one here in CA now. I love just doing open houses and staging. I was happy. My daughter asked me, do they know you would do this for FREE, don’t say that too loud. As both my kids know all their life I took them to open houses just to look at how they had them styled. This is what I enjoyed. It took a little while for me to realize after showing the homes I turned the clients over to the Realtor and realized I was losing out on making more money. As I didn’t have a Real Estate license. Light bulb moment! So, I started studying again to make that happen.

I do believe we never stop learning. This is the start of combining my passion and career to lead to the lifestyle that I have achieved in Real Estate. You know what they say, if you do what you love it’s not work.
