Redefining Success: How Kim Castrillon Transformed Her Life Through Faith and Resilience

Kim Castrillon’s entrepreneurial journey began at just 20 years old, a leap fueled not by careful planning but by desperation. When her health took a turn, she was forced to abandon her dream of becoming a Physical Therapist, leaving her without a backup plan. While working as a waitress, she was invited to an 'opportunity meeting'—a pivotal moment that reshaped her perspective on success. That night, Kim discovered an entirely new way of thinking, realizing that success was possible outside the traditional college path.

Building a seven-figure sales company is an extraordinary feat, and for Kim Castrillon, it required a complete transformation of her daily habits and mindset. She immersed herself in personal development, listening to motivational tapes, reading books on mindset, and attending weekly live training sessions. Television and music took a backseat, replaced by learning and growth. She also intentionally shifted her inner circle, surrounding herself with those who aligned with her ambitions.

Despite moments of doubt and exhaustion, Kim remained resilient. She often felt tempted to quit, but by morning, she always found the strength to continue. The stories of successful individuals who had faced failure after failure before achieving greatness inspired her to persevere. Through her journey, she came to understand that setbacks were not roadblocks but lessons leading to greater success.

However, not all lessons came easily. A devastating business collapse caused by a bad partnership led Kim to step away from the corporate world entirely. She and her family moved to a small town of just 24,000 people, far from the fast-paced city life. In this season of stillness, she turned inward, deepening her faith and rediscovering her identity beyond professional achievements. For 16 years, she had been chasing success, but in this quiet period, she learned that true fulfillment came from understanding herself through God’s eyes rather than through external validation.

During this time, one of the most transformative moments in Kim’s life occurred—her healing from epilepsy. She had battled the condition since childhood, trying countless medications and even undergoing brain surgery, only for the seizures to return. But when she let go of her relentless pursuit of business success and dedicated herself to faith, she found the healing she had long sought. This period of stillness allowed her to embrace a new perspective: life was meant to be lived with gratitude, rather than an endless chase for the next achievement.

Kim firmly believes that true wealth starts from within. She has seen firsthand that external success—money, recognition, and material achievements—does not necessarily equate to internal peace. Quoting scripture, she often refers to Jesus’ words: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” She emphasizes that if success is pursued as a means to fix past wounds, it will always feel empty. However, when the heart is healed first, business and life align with passion rather than obligation. For Kim, losing her company was not a failure but a blessing, an opportunity to rebuild with a deeper purpose.

Her experiences led her to create The Set Free Life series and The Set Free Life Equation™, both designed to help others transform their past pain into purpose. After years as a biblical counselor and life coach, she found herself unable to meet with clients in person due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Seeking guidance, she felt called to write—a challenge she initially resisted but ultimately embraced. What began as one book soon evolved into a powerful series, through which she openly shares her struggles and triumphs. The Set Free Life series has touched countless lives, providing readers with a roadmap to personal freedom and healing.

The Set Free Life Equation™, which will be revealed in Volume 4: Your Purpose and Legacy (coming later in 2025), is a culmination of the wisdom and lessons Kim has gathered over the years. She views this work not just as a message, but as a movement—one that has already impacted those closest to her, including her own siblings, who have shared their transformative experiences after reading her books.

A crucial aspect of Kim’s mission is financial freedom, but not in the traditional sense of wealth accumulation. She teaches that financial security comes from aligning with one’s true purpose rather than simply chasing money. Comparing oneself to others or striving for success solely for material gain leads to emptiness. Instead, she encourages individuals to focus on impact—the positive changes they create in others’ lives. To her, financial freedom means waking up each day excited about the work one is doing, knowing that the money will follow naturally when passion and purpose are aligned.

Central to Kim’s journey has been the unwavering support of her husband. Having met at age 20, the two have built a life rooted in honesty, mutual growth, and steadfast encouragement. Over nearly four decades, their relationship has been a cornerstone of both her success and her healing. His belief in her abilities and dreams has provided a stable foundation through every triumph and challenge.

Looking ahead, Kim and her husband plan to embark on a cross-country RV journey to spread The Set Free Life message. With their RV branded with the powerful words “Healed. Restored. Prosperous.,” they aim to inspire and uplift people across the nation. Their mission is to introduce others to the transformative power of healing and self-discovery, showing that even the smallest shift in mindset can create lasting change. The Set Free Life series, spanning multiple volumes, is tailored for various audiences, from young adults to married couples and those over 60, ensuring that its wisdom reaches individuals at every stage of life.

For those feeling stuck in their setbacks, Kim offers simple yet profound advice: reframe obstacles as lessons. Writing down what has been learned from each struggle shifts the focus from victimhood to growth. Additionally, she emphasizes the importance of forgiveness—not just of others but of oneself. Holding onto past hurts only keeps one anchored in the past, while letting go creates space for a brighter future.

Kim Castrillon’s journey is a testament to the power of resilience, faith, and purpose. Her story proves that true prosperity is not defined by financial success alone, but by the impact one leaves on others. Through her books, coaching, and upcoming travels, she continues to spread the message that healing must come first—because only from a place of wholeness can true success be built.
