Rise of the Phoenix: Renew, reimagine, and reignite your life—no matter your past

I recently wrote a chapter in the She Rises anthology Becoming An Unstoppable Woman: Rise of the Phoenix and it had me thinking deeply about women’s stories and how often we face significant challenges throughout our lives.
The idea of Rise of the Phoenix represents the concept of a rebirth or a rising from the ashes and being reborn. It represents the chance to rise and reclaim our lives.
This is the message I hope to spread to all women, but especially women in midlife who have faced grief, trauma and challenges.
It is important to know that your past does not need to dictate your future, although so many of us fall back on our past when we tell the stories of our lives. If you had asked me my story several years ago, it would have started and ended with a list of challenges, forgoing all the goodness and blessings in my life. At that time, my focus was always on all the things that had gone wrong, the people I had lost, the challenges that I had.
However the truth is that you can create a new story for your life at any age. Similar to the phoenix rising, you have the opportunity to renew, reimagine, and reignite your life - even after being in the depths of despair when faced with grief, trauma, and challenges.
Once I realized this truth, that moment became the turning point in my healing. I realized that my story did not have to be defined by grief. By embarking on a healing journey, I could change my story and transform my life. And so, step by step, I began the work of renewal.
I now believe that even in the face of significant challenges, trauma, and grief, every single one of us has the power within us and the ability to heal. The healing lies in a journey that supports us in renewing, reimagining, and reigniting our lives; to rise as the phoenix does.
One of the foundational programs in the Flourishing Over Fifty® community is The Flourish Journey- which is the process I followed to create my new story. This program leads you on a journey to overcome trauma, build resilience, and reclaim happiness. You can write a new story, one of strength, hope, and possibility.

The first step is The Daily Joy Practice-, a foundational, simple yet powerful daily activity. Spend 3 minutes a day (1 minute each) on the following:
Stillness: Sit in silence, allowing yourself to quiet your mind.
Gratitude: Reflect on and journal about the things you are grateful for.
Intention: Set a meaningful intention for your day.
By dedicating just three minutes a day to this practice, you can start to heal. You begin to shift your perspective, move beyond despair, and start thinking about the joy to come in your life, setting the foundation for lasting transformation. Over time, these small moments create a ripple effect, altering the trajectory of your life.
