Rising Strong: The Story Behind NOWFUL

There was a time in my life when I had everything people define as success. I was the owner and CEO of a multinational company with operations in 17 countries. I was continuing the work I had begun three decades earlier: advocating for gender equality, not only within corporate spaces but also through philanthropy and collaborations with international organizations. At the same time, I was entering motherhood, a chapter that filled me with joy. My life felt meaningful and aligned with my mission to build a more equal world where women and men have the same opportunities to reach their full potential.
But one day, when I was 52, everything changed. My husband and business partner did not like the idea of me asking for a divorce.
At that time, we were about to close the sale of one of our company’s most important assets, and he didn’t want to share the percentage I was entitled to; he wanted it all for himself. In a country like Mexico, where corruption still runs deep and the rule of law is fragile, he made sure I was stripped of it all. In less than 24 hours, I lost my job, my titles, my business, my income, my assets, and almost what is most sacred to me: my daughters. They tried to take my daughters away — who were just 2 and 4 years old at the time — and strip me of my right to be their mother. I became the target of a smear campaign that questioned my leadership, my integrity, and even my motherhood. Every morning I would wake up and read lies about myself in the news.
It was one of the most difficult, lonely, devastating, and deeply hurtful chapters of my life, but also the most revealing.
I had two choices: to break or to rebuild. I chose myself. I chose my daughters. I chose my life.
This is my story. They tried to bury me, but they did not know I was a seed, and I flourished. I know I am not the only one who has faced harrowing times, but I also know we are all seeds, capable of blossoming even in the most adverse conditions. And that’s the beauty of life — our immense capacity for resilience and our refusal to give up, no matter how dark times might seem. My spirit is unbreakable, and so is yours. You can turn pain into purpose, loss into learning, and endings into new beginnings. My journey is a reminder that the moment you choose love over fear, you shine from within.
It’s all about presence, gratitude, resilience, and emotional clarity. The habits that helped me overcome my hardest moments are the same habits that helped me succeed in business and in life — taking care of my body, mind, and spirit.
