Start the Day with Water

Suffering from altitude sickness on my way up Mt. Kilimanjaro, I decided I need to hydrate better. The next morning on the mountain I woke up 30-minutes early to start my day with a glass of water. It took 30-minutes to sip it because everything took forever on Kilimanjaro.
But fluids made a real difference. I felt notably better and implemented that strategy when I returned home. I figured if I was dehydrated when I woke up at altitude, I also must be at sea level, even if I didn’t notice the impact as much
I started putting a glass of water on my nightstand at night and began the next day by drinking the glass. Then, sort of like making the bed, no matter what happens throughout the day, I feel like I started with something positive for my body, and I was well hydrated. It helps. It makes me more aware of what it feels to be slightly dehydrated so I catch it in my body.
Starting the day with a glass of water makes me less stiff and more refreshed. It’s a pick-me-up and an energy boost.
Drinking the water allows for a beat before I start the day. It’s been a simple change that was easy to implement and I’m glad I did.
