The Art of Entrepreneurship:How I Painted My Own Path to Success

Entrepreneurship never came to me through spreadsheets or business plans. It came as rebellion. Reinvention. A refusal to live boxed in by expectations. I’ve always been a creator, a rule-breaker, a woman who never fit the mold—and never wanted to. From my earliest days working in restaurants while painting on the side, I sensed I wasn’t meant to walk a prescribed path. I was meant to forge one.
Entrepreneurship, I’ve learned, is not just about business. It’s about identity. It’s about crafting a life anchored in creativity, integrity, and the courage to begin again—even when everything falls apart.
In the 1980s, I co-founded one of the most successful glass studios in the country.
We were thriving—until the recession hit. Almost overnight, what we had built was gone. I lost the company, my marriage, my security, and the identity I thought defined me.
But like any true artist, I began again.
This time, I turned to my body. Years of chronic illness had worn me down, and I was determined to heal. With a strength coach by my side, I rebuilt myself—minute by painful minute. What began as survival became a calling. Soon, I was guiding others as a personal trainer, helping them transform not just their bodies, but their lives.
Then came another shattering. An SUV ran a red light and destroyed my right arm, wrist, and shoulder—along with my livelihood. For weeks I sat in recovery, broken yet listening. And in that stillness, something stirred. I realized I didn’t need to stop—I needed to shift. Out of my living room, I created a 12-week program blending fitness with deep personal transformation. Clients came to lose weight. They left toxic relationships, started businesses, reclaimed their lives.
And so did I.
I left the marriage that had long suffocated me. I walked out with nothing but my son and the essentials. No money. No workspace. But I had myself. And in that raw beginning, my art returned like a long-lost love. Painting. Writing. Creating. My soul poured itself into canvases and words. Clients were drawn not only to my programs but to the sense that they, too, could reclaim themselves.
Today, my work no longer asks me to choose between art and entrepreneurship. It is both. It is all of me. I create sacred textiles, soul portraits, and immersive experiences that blend art, ritual, and energy work. These are not just offerings. They are portals—each an invitation for others to come home to themselves, just as I did.

For me, success was never about climbing a corporate ladder or fitting into systems that were never made for women like me. Success is about daring to create a new system—one that reflects the soul. Entrepreneurship, at its core, is an art form. It is survival. It is spirit. And for those of us who never belonged, it is a reclamation.
I didn’t rise by following the rules. I rose because I refused to quit. Because I kept creating. Because I learned the courage to receive—not just money or recognition, but love, rest, and support.
So if you’re standing at the edge of reinvention, wondering if it’s too late or if you’re enough—hear me clearly: you already are. Your life is the masterpiece. Pick up the brush. Begin again.
