The Biggest Strategic Move I ever Made: Focus on The Strength of Diversity. The Ultimate Power Move

The biggest strategic move I ever made was walking away from people who saw my value but chose to ignore me. I was in a scene that lacked diversity, dominated by white, patriarchal gatekeepers, with token positions for few others. It reminded me of “whites only” signs from America’s worst era. This Toronto spiritual scene was full of narcissists, abusers, and energy vamps. People overlooking toxicity just to feel a false sense of community. I stayed for the illusion of friendship, but deep down, I knew it wasn’t for me.

I am a woman of color, of many ancestries. I have the entire world in my DNA. I represent a lot of people. I represent the majority of the world.

I tour internationally as a DJ. I stand for diversity, unity, and qualities seen as assets everywhere, except among this small group of fearful, racist, misogynist gatekeepers. They didn’t want me to outshine them. It’s the Kamala Harris vs. Donald Trump effect: a brilliant, vibrant woman versus a musty, problematic hater. Racism and misogyny is setting back all of humanity. I think my days of over explaining this will soon be over. I need to submit an invoice for my time, as all this should be obvious. You don’t want a soon to be internationally famous star to play your local event? Because my avatar is different than yours?

I don’t understand how that makes sense.

So I left. That decision came with some isolation, but it gave me time to refine my craft, reach out to new people, and attend events aligned with my values. Friends kept inviting me back to the same toxic space, but I realized: if they support such a system, were they ever really my friends? I sacrificed a summer of socializing with what I was used to, but it paid off. I’m busier than ever, surrounded by people who share my vision. More people want diversity, representation, and female leadership than not. People constantly talk about it. It’s what the entire world wants. There’s a lot of opportunity there.

If you stick with the white patriarchy, you’ll waste your energy convincing mediocrity that you’re a star. That equality and representation add value. They know this, but they don’t care when there are fragile egos to keep intact. Ironically, this is the antithesis of spirituality. This Toronto scene is full of demons who are there to distract and energy siphon. Nobody is actually interested in spiritual ascension.

Globally, BIPOC are the majority. White men make up only about 3% of the world. They spent centuries suppressing women so we wouldn’t realize our power. But diverse music and party scenes are where the magic, unity, and money are.

The people who create diverse scenes go on to be multimillionaires, and in some cases, billionaires.

Hip hop and electronic music have been going strong for over 50 years because of its diversity. Whereas scenes like rock, grunge and punk, even though I love them, had their moment but then burn out, because it’s largely non diverse.

Do the math.

I recently played a Toronto rave with many women DJs, including women of color. The crowd of over 500 people felt safe, free, wild, and alive. When I shared it online, people worldwide wanted to know where it was. Because of that night, I was upgraded to headliner at my next booking. This never would’ve happened if I’d stayed in the patriarchal scene, where I endured sexual assault and constant dismissal of BIWOC leadership. Those spaces don’t care, and they never will. It’s time to move on to safer, more joyful communities where women, queer people, and BIPOC shine. ALL people shine. That’s my vibe.

The revolution is here. Surrounding yourself with creative, diverse, open-minded women is the ultimate upgrade. What you focus on becomes reality, so free yourself from distractions. Choose people who will support you, celebrate you, and treat you like the star you are. You’ll never find fans in a scene designed to be against you because of your gender or skin color. That mindset is outdated and fading fast.

I’ve found my people. Fellow co-creators who love diversity, prioritize consent, and bring better music, better energy, and more fun. We’re peace-loving, sexy, vibrant, and manifesting what the universe wants: equality!

So ditch those who pretend not to see you. Go where you can glow. Build with the most progressive, supportive people you know. That’s where success lives.

Much love and power to all the women. Keep rising. The time is now.
