You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending. —C. S. Lewis

It’s done. The property squabbles, custody battles, and court dates that felt like they would never end are finally over. You’re divorced.

Life often feels as if it’s in limbo during the divorce period, but now you’ve reached the light at the end of the tunnel. You have a chance to pick up the pieces and create a new life for yourself. You’re ready to move on. The question is, how do you do that?

What does life after divorce even look like? If you’re like most recently divorced people, your head is swirling with questions. Where are you going to live? How is your social life going to change? How will you raise your kids? Will there be enough money?

When should you reenter the dating pool?

I understand. These and countless other questions hounded me as I emerged from my own divorce a decade and a half ago. I looked for books that could help me figure out the year after divorce. I didn’t find any. I looked for podcasts that focused on how to redefine your life after a divorce. But the only ones I found dealt with how to get through your divorce; not what to do afterwards.

So, did I do? To begin making sense of it all, I created a chart showing each pressing life question I had. Putting it on paper took the worries out of my head, allowing me to separate my concerns into categories, define them, and tackle them one at a time. Then I applied creative problem solving to each of my issues. One-by-one, I worked through the problems and found solutions. And, a year later, I had built a stronger network of friends than I’d ever had before, committed to a better relationship with my kids, and found new love with a caring, compassionate partner. I discovered that divorce can truly be your second chance at happiness.

After all that was done, I wrote a book about my whole post-divorce experience. Moving On: Redefining Your Emotional, Financial, and Social Life After Divorce is a plainly-written, common sense approach to defining your issues, figuring our solutions, and moving on to the next issue. The book was an Amazon top-seller for months. I got so much great feedback from readers about how the book had helped them, which encouraged me to widen my reach with The HourGLASS Podcast.

In The HourGLASS Podcast, I’ve interviewed over 200 “people in the know” about their own experiences with divorce and how they changed their lives afterwards. I’ve interviewed psychologist, lawyers, accountants, and business managers. I’ve talked to actors, musicians, writers, directors, and editors. I even did a full season with comedians and comedy writers talking about their own personal experiences. We’ve completed 7 seasons and are getting ready to launch season 8 in January 2026.

Our ideal listeners are people who are starting, going through, or finishing their own divorces or separations, and want to focus on themselves and the things they can change about their own lives. We also supply great information for those people’s families and new significant others so they can better understand what their friends and family members are going through.
