The Journey Behind The Words

My writing journey began in a place I never expected — as a caregiver. My very first story was part of an anthology about caregiving, and honestly, I didn’t want to share my story at first. It felt too personal, too raw. But something happened during that process — I fell in love with writing. I realized that telling my truth wasn’t just about reliving pain; it was about releasing it. That one story opened the door to something so much bigger.
Fast forward, and here I am — 22 anthologies later, still excited every single time I get to put pen to paper and birth a new project. Each book represents a piece of my heart, my faith, my resilience, and the many chapters of my life. Writing has become more than a passion; it’s become my purpose. It’s how I share my journey with the world, one story at a time.
When I sit down to write, I don’t force it. I let it flow from the heart. Writing is my therapy. It’s where I can cry, laugh, pray, and heal — all in one space. The beauty of writing is that it gives me permission to feel deeply, to reflect, and to transform pain into purpose.
It allows me to use my voice in ways I never imagined and to connect with others who see themselves in my story.
Storytelling has taught me so much about creativity and authenticity. Every time I write, I’m reminded that my voice matters — and so does yours. It doesn’t matter if you’re
writing about joy, loss, faith, or fear — someone out there needs to hear it. Someone is waiting to read the very words that will remind them they’re not alone. That’s the real power of storytelling. It’s not about perfection; it’s about connection.
Publishing has also been a journey of growth. When I first started, I had no idea what it really meant to be an author. I just knew I wanted to share stories that mattered. But over time, I learned that being an author is also about building community, supporting others, and using your platform to inspire change. That’s how my vision for The Author Collective was born — to create a space where women authors and aspiring writers could come together, grow together, and share their voices with the world.
Through writing, I’ve healed. Through storytelling, I’ve grown. And through publishing, I’ve learned to lead. My books are more than just pages; they’re pieces of my soul stitched together with faith, courage, and purpose. Writing has truly been my safe place — the one space where I can show up fully as myself.
Here are five tips I want to share with aspiring authors who are ready to share their message:
Write from the heart. The best stories are the ones that come from a place of truth and authenticity. Don’t try to sound perfect — just be real.
Trust the process. Writing takes time, patience, and faith. Don’t rush your story; let it unfold naturally.
Use writing as healing. Every word you release brings you closer to peace. Let your emotions guide the pen.
Build your writing community. Surround yourself with other authors, visionaries, and dreamers who encourage and uplift you.
Remember your ‘why.’ When the process feels heavy, return to the reason you started. Your purpose will always reignite your passion.

Writing gave me my voice back. And my hope is that through your writing, you’ll find yours too.
