The Moment Clarity Made Me Unstoppable

I’ve been in public relations for 25 years. I’ve watched trends cycle, industries reinvent themselves, and more “next big things” burn out than I can count. What surprises people most is that the moment I became truly unstoppable didn’t happen early in my career. It didn’t arrive in my 30s or even my early 40s.

It was later, when my “why” became clear.

For much of my career, I did what many capable, driven women do. I said yes often. I worked across categories that were impressive, lucrative, or strategically smart, even when they didn’t personally move me. I delivered strong results, built meaningful relationships, and stayed constantly in motion. From the outside, it looked like success.

Then one day, a genuine lightbulb went off. I realized that my work needed to fully reflect who I am and what I care most about. I became clear that my “why” is to amplify women’s voices and women’s businesses—intentionally and consistently.

That realization led to another important shift in how I approached PR.

For years, I helped clients secure visibility, such as headlines, features, & accolades. That work matters, but it isn’t the end goal. Visibility without impact only goes so far. Where I could have the greatest influence was helping women use visibility as a springboard to grow real businesses. To create momentum, open doors, and build revenue-generating companies.

Once I understood that my role wasn’t just to land coverage, but to help women turn credibility into opportunity, everything changed.

I stopped chasing clients in categories that didn’t align with who I am or what motivates me. I stopped taking on work simply because I could do it well. I set clear parameters around my time, my energy, and the kind of impact I wanted my business to have. I made a conscious decision to represent who I truly am in my work, consistently and unapologetically.

That shift transformed my business.

The right clients found me faster, and the wrong ones naturally fell away. What I learned quickly was that alignment doesn’t limit growth; it accelerates it.

As my work evolved, so did my understanding of impact. Helping women be visible wasn’t enough. Helping women make money was where real power lived.

Money is power. We see it play out everywhere. Money creates access, expands choice, and shapes who gets to influence outcomes. When women make money, the effect ripples outward. Women invest in other women. They invest in their families, their communities, and the future they want to see. When women control capital, good things follow: sustainable, lasting change.

Community has been essential to that journey.

Throughout my career, I’ve built alongside extraordinary women—founders, investors, and leaders—who believe in lifting as they climb. Women who share insight instead of guarding it. Women who challenge one another thoughtfully and offer support without competition. Those relationships not only expanded my network; they expanded my confidence and my vision.

So how can other women step into their personal power?

Start by getting honest about what truly matters to you, and don’t worry if that clarity arrives later than expected. Set boundaries that honor it. Say no with intention. Say yes with purpose. And choose your community carefully. Surround yourself with women who want to win, and who genuinely want you to win too.

That’s when clarity becomes power. And that’s when being unstoppable truly begins.
