The Moment My Vision Came to Life

When I look back, the breakthrough moment that shaped my entrepreneurial journey came from something as simple as a fax machine.
While consulting for an insurance broker, I noticed they still had a fax machine in use. Out of curiosity, I asked why. The answer floored me: in order to issue an insurance policy, mountains of paperwork had to be filled, signed, and processed, often by fax.
At first, I thought it was just this one office. But as I dug deeper, I discovered that the insurance industry was one of the last to rely heavily on fax machines, and it wasn’t just an odd relic, it was a symptom of how antiquated the entire system was.
In Latin America especially, insurance sales agents were spending 20–30% of their time filling out forms just to close a deal. Many sales were lost in the process because customers grew frustrated and walked away.
Imagine being ready to buy something essential like insurance, only to be delayed by endless paperwork. The result was wasted time, lost opportunities, and a customer experience that was anything but modern.
That realization lit a fire in me. I saw clearly that this was an industry ripe for transformation. The average age of insurance agents was around 60, and young people had little interest in joining such a “boring” and outdated sector. But to me, that spelled opportunity. If the weaknesses were paperwork and lack of technology, then those would become our strengths.

That’s how the vision for Eprezto was born: a fully digital insurance platform built to streamline what was once a tedious, outdated process. Our mission was simple, take an industry that was stuck in the past and reinvent it around customer experience and technology.
The moment I saw that fax machine, I knew exactly what I wanted to build. It wasn’t just about starting a business; it was about modernizing an entire industry and making insurance something people could access quickly, safely, and transparently online.
That was the moment my vision came to life, and every decision I’ve made since has been rooted in that breakthrough.
