The Power Move That Changed My Business

For years, I climbed the ladder, moving through boardrooms, strategy sessions, and high-stakes meetings, spaces where titles were impressive but true inspiration often felt absent. Leadership, I discovered, could be loud and visible yet still hollow.

I vividly remember one pivotal afternoon. I was speaking with a senior executive whose position carried prestige, authority, and influence, or so it seemed on paper.

But as we talked, I noticed something was missing. There was no spark, no vision that reached beyond the immediate task list, no sense of purpose that could ripple outward and inspire others to reach higher.

That conversation was my wake-up call. It wasn’t judgment; it was clarity.

I realized there’s a profound difference between holding a title and embodying leadership.

In that moment, I made a quiet but unshakable promise to myself: I would be the kind of leader whose presence elevated others, whose influence was rooted in substance, and whose decisions created a lasting impact. I would never settle for surface-level success when depth and transformation were possible.

That single realization became the foundation of everything I do today.

It shaped the creation of my P.O.I.S.E.™ Framework—a leadership model built on the belief that excellence and wellness can coexist. I began to see that many women, especially Black women and women of color, were navigating leadership spaces that demanded constant output but offered little in personal alignment or joy. They were achieving, yes—but at the expense of themselves.

I knew I could help change that.

Through my work, I began guiding leaders beyond burnout, helping them find their voice, protect their peace, and create strategies that serve not only their organizations but also their lives. I wanted to show that softness can be a strength, strategy can be a form of self-care, and legacy is something every woman can design on her own terms.

Founding Queens Behind the Scenes was another part of that mission, a platform to elevate the real, often unseen stories of powerful women driving change without always standing in the spotlight. Because leadership isn’t just about being front and center, it’s about the ripple effect you create for others.

That power move, choosing to lead differently, didn’t just change my business; it changed me.

I stopped chasing titles and started building impact. I stopped measuring my worth by output and began defining it by influence, transformation, and the spaces I create for others to rise. My business evolved from a service into a movement, drawing women from the U.S., Canada, Europe, the Caribbean, and beyond who were eager to lead with intention and authenticity.

The transformation for my clients has been profound. I’ve seen senior executives finally set boundaries that allow them to lead without sacrificing their health. I’ve watched scaling entrepreneurs shift from overworked to overflow, building teams, increasing revenue, and rediscovering joy in the process. And I’ve celebrated as women who once felt invisible in their industries stepped confidently into their voice and influence.

If I could leave you with one truth, it’s this: leadership is not a position; it’s a posture. The real power move isn’t just getting into the room; it’s deciding how you will show up once you’re there.

And for me, the day I decided to lead with depth, vision, and purpose was the day everything changed.
