What Women in Perimenopause Actually Need from Wellness

The wellness industry has discovered perimenopause. Walk into any health food store, scroll any wellness feed, and you will find a growing chorus of supplements, protocols and retreats promising to fix what hormonal transition breaks. The conversation has arrived. But the quality of that conversation still has a long way to go.

We built Eve and Beyond because we kept seeing the same pattern repeat. Women in their late 30s and 40s experiencing real, disruptive symptoms. Irregular cycles, brain fog, sleep disruption, anxiety that came from nowhere, mood shifts that felt like a personality change, and being met with one of two responses. Either dismissal from their doctor, or a wellness industry selling them expensive supplements with claims that outpaced the evidence supporting them.

Neither response serves women well.

What the research actually shows is that perimenopause is one of the most biologically significant transitions a woman's body undergoes. Estrogen does not simply regulate reproduction. It influences the brain, the gut, the cardiovascular system, bone density, skin, sleep architecture and mood regulation. When it begins to fluctuate in perimenopause, the effects ripple through nearly every system in the body. This is not a niche women's issue. It is a whole-body health event that medicine has historically undertreated and wellness has historically oversimplified.

The women who navigate this transition best are not the ones who find the right supplement stack.

They are the ones who understand what is actually happening in their bodies, who can advocate for themselves in medical settings, and who have access to evidence-based information rather than marketing dressed as science.

This is what genuine wellness innovation in the menopause space looks like. Not another adaptogen blend or hormone-balancing tea. It looks like raising the standard of information available to women at a critical life stage. It looks like helping women distinguish between a randomised controlled trial and a testimonial. It looks like building trust through accuracy rather than aspiration.

The supplement and wellness market for menopausal women is projected to exceed six billion dollars in North America alone. That market will be served either by brands that genuinely prioritise the evidence or by brands that prioritise the sale. The difference matters enormously to the women making decisions about their health based on what they read.

One of the most important shifts happening right now is women arriving at medical appointments informed, curious and unwilling to accept dismissal. According to a 2026 Mira Women's Health Trends Report, 98% of healthcare professionals say patients are increasingly requesting integrative and lifestyle-based interventions alongside traditional medicine.

Women are not passive patients anymore. They are informed advocates for their own health. The wellness industry's job is to earn that trust with honesty rather than exploit it with hype.

The future of preventative health for women over 40 is not more products. It is better information, earlier conversations and a healthcare system that takes the perimenopause transition as seriously as the wellness industry has learned to market it.

We are building toward that at Eve and Beyond, one science-led article at a time.
