When No One Else Would Say It, I Hit Record

I didn’t start Dental Decoders because I had a massive audience. I started it because I was sitting across from burnt-out office managers, overworked dentists, and frustrated team members every single week… people buried under broken systems, bad habits, and business advice that didn’t reflect the real world of running a practice.
And no one was saying it out loud. So I did.
I had already built a consulting business helping dental offices clean up their revenue cycles and create systems that actually made sense. But I wanted to scale the impact beyond my Zoom calls and training sessions. I wanted to give people something they could binge on their commute or listen to after a hard day, something that told them: you’re not crazy, and you’re definitely not alone.
So I grabbed my mic, hit record, and said what I needed to hear when I was in my audience's shoes. That was the start of Dental Decoders.
Over a year, I released 55 podcast episodes and over 130 YouTube videos under the Dental Decoders name, covering everything from insurance verification to team communication. But the episodes that hit hardest weren’t always the ones packed with strategy. They were the ones packed with real talk.
The conversations that cracked open the truth about burnout. The ones where we talked about the emotional labor of leadership, the mess behind the metrics, and the courage it takes to build something that actually supports your team instead of draining them.
But one of the most unexpected gifts of podcasting? The relationships. I’ve had conversations with industry experts I never would’ve met otherwise. I’ve built real friendships with guests who turned out to be kindred spirits. And I’ve had listeners reach out just to say, “I didn’t know anyone else felt this way.” That kind of connection? You can’t fake it and you can’t put a price on it.
That’s the power of podcasting: you don’t need perfection to be powerful. You just need honesty.
If I’ve learned anything from this journey, it’s this: consistency builds trust, but authenticity builds connection. People don’t just want how-tos. They want to feel seen. They want to hear stories that make them exhale and think, “Finally… someone gets it.”
I don’t think everyone needs to start a podcast. But I do think that if you’ve lived through something that could help others heal, grow, or lead better, you have a responsibility to share it. Podcasting is one of the most accessible, low-barrier ways to do that. No gatekeepers. No waiting. Just you, your story, and the people who need it.
Dental Decoders is for the practice owner who’s tired of duct-taping their systems. For the office manager who’s tired of being everything for everyone. For the woman in business who wants structure without sacrificing soul.
And while the show is currently on pause while I launch my second book and host our first in-person event, it’s far from finished.

A new season is coming. One that dives deeper into the messy middle of business and the emotional labor no one talks about. One that honors both systems and self-leadership. One that reminds women they don’t have to choose between success and sanity.
Podcasting taught me how to use my voice and now, I’m using it to help other women reclaim theirs.
