Why I podcast

My podcast was born out of a boozy brunch with one of my business school professors. As we chatted about our own businesses and our backgrounds, the idea of being able to translate the worlds of medicine and business to both sides took hold. As former ER doctors turned entrepreneurs, Adam and I have a unique perspective that many don’t. We can understand the desire to provide really excellent, compassionate care to patients. But we also understand some of the complexities of the business side of medicine. But honestly, the sentence that sealed the deal was: “Because, dude, we’re friggin’ hilarious.” We went back and forth for months on how to approach the entire process and finally settled on being the ones to inject a dose of both humor and hope into the fragile state of healthcare in America. “Healthcare is unstable, and so are we.”
My platform is one of a middle-aged woman with a lot of degrees who doesn’t have a problem saying what many people are thinking.
If you do that thoughtfully, and you carry some credibility, it’s a great way to get people to open up and share their stories. Adam and I work very hard before every episode to make sure we are approaching our topic or guest in the right way. We want to be the voice of the business of medicine for all the stakeholders and make sure we keep it entertaining enough to hook the listeners. We don’t want to appear too unstable after all.
