(1) What’s your “Summer Glow” story this year? (What are you creating, launching, or embracing in this season of your life or business?)
This is a big year for Fighting Pretty and me personally. This summer, Fighting Pretty is launching our first ever clean beauty lipstick line called "Pretty Powerful" with three bold new colors:
Fierce Red Liquid Matte Lipstick
Fighter Pink Liquid Matte Lipstick
Feisty Spice Sheer Shine Lipstick
Each lip product is designed to reinforce the strength and beauty that every woman has inside of them. When I was undergoing chemotherapy at 26 years old, it was hot pink lipstick that I wore to remind myself I was still me. I was a young vibrant, confident, amazing woman who was fighting through cancer and sometimes needed to be reminded that I could push through any obstacle that came my way, including cancer. In addition to launching this amazing lipstick line full of empowerment, I am so blessed to share that I will be becoming a mother for the first time. Back during my cancer diagnosis, I was told I would never be able to have a child and now at 43 years old, I am due with a baby boy in just a few weeks.
This year, my “summer glow” will be all about embracing and celebrating this new phase of life with a newborn baby and encouraging women to stay strong, have hope and remember how beautiful they are - especially with some new Fighting Pretty lipstick!
(2) How does your brand or message reflect your California energy, even if you're not based there? (Think: laid-back confidence, creativity, bold visibility, reinvention, or freedom.)
Looking back on the foundation of Fighting Pretty, as well as this time in my life, the idea of reinvention, confidence, and bold creativity are truly terms that resonate with me as a woman and Fighting Pretty as a brand. In just over 10 years Fighting Pretty has helped tens of thousands of women all over the globe feel supported, feel beautiful, know they’re worth, and remember they can fight through cancer and beyond. We have remained nimble and optimistic, even through the tough times of a pandemic, and through radical changes of the political and global environment. Our mission to help women battling cancer feel strong and beautiful is universal. We are bold in our voice to help all women, we are creative in how we adapt and change with the times, but most of all we are resilient like my cancer journey taught us to be.
(3) How are you showing up more boldly or intentionally this summer, online or in real life?
This summer, the Fighting Pretty brand will continue to be elevated across all of our platforms. We are hosting our annual Pretty Powerful Girl’s Day Out fundraiser, inviting women of all ages and backgrounds to join us for a day to not only pamper themselves, but in turn support those battling cancer who need to feel strong and beautiful.
We are also launching our newest Pretty Package designed to help those battling cancer through their journey and will be including our new clean lipstick line in each of those packages.
In addition, this summer, we will continue to work with hospitals, cancer clinics, and other nonprofit organizations to share our strength with their communities, and will continue to work and build our student ambassador teams across the USA to further our mission in their communities and teach young students how to not only run their own nonprofit organizations on campus, but learn to use their bold voices for good.
Personally, I will be entering into a new phase of my life as a mom and could not be more excited, grateful and honored to have this opportunity to raise my son with an incredible partner and
instill the importance of giving, generosity and empowerment within my family.
(4) What’s one message you want other women to know about beauty, wellness, or personal leadership in 2025?
As someone who knows what it feels like to hear “you have cancer,” I was faced with traumatic side effects taking away the things that made me feel like a woman. I want other women to know it is crucially important to prioritize the things that make you feel like you - including your beauty, wellness and professional or passionate endeavors. In 2025, make this your year to thrive! Whether it’s taking the first step toward overcoming an obstacle or treacherous journey, or striving to accomplish something you never thought you could. Have hope and know you are strong, beautiful and truly Fighting Pretty!
