A Shift in My golden Years

Four years ago, something happened that changed the course of my life. Through the painful loss of a loved one, I found myself feeling lost and alone. Then a small light of hope started to pierce the sadness that enveloped me.

I was retired but this event changed the course of my golden years. I guess the Universe/God still had plans for me. Being retired meant that I had time for myself and I didn’t have to do anything if I didn’t want to. But as the phrase goes, “Make plans and watch God laugh.” So true!

As it turned out he did.

One day, out of the blue I received an unexpected message inviting me to collaborate on a book, it surprised me because I had never written a book, but I answered the door to the opportunity that presented itself and I hoped for the best. Those doors led me to find more opportunities to write and collaborate in other books and in a couple of magazines.

This opened up my love for writing (I have always loved to write but only in my journals) especially when it meant sharing pieces of my story that may inspire, or give someone hope.

My journey has always been about healing and forgiveness because through that process I have been able to break cycles and trauma for myself, allowing me to be a better person, wife, and mother.

Now I have the honor to be a speaker, and I have been given an opportunity to share how healing and forgiveness has helped me as a parent and grandparent. An event where the focus is on Parenting with Purpose, allowing to share my healing process as a mother.

All the experiences and the lessons that I learned prepared me for a new journey as a writer and speaker focused on breaking cycles, healing, and forgiveness.

My goal is to write and publish my first solo book, not just a memoir, but a book of my experiences and challenges. I hope that my stories may be a guide to someone who may be struggling or feels that they cannot find solace from their pain.

I am also creating a 6-week course titled; Cycle Breaker: A journey of Healing and Forgiveness along with a journal. It is not a coaching program but a course that may guide you on the steps that may help you find healing. It has taken me so many years to understand the experiences that I suffered: the abandonment and abuse. I needed to learn to heal so that I can help others do the same.

I feel so blessed and grateful for the many detours, pauses, and setbacks in my life because they have led me to find where I belong, to my purpose and mission. It is to help others break cycles, forgive, and heal by sharing my story.

I express my deepest gratitude to John R. Spender who saw something in me and gave me the opportunity to write my first book. I am also grateful to She Rises Studios for helping not only me but so many authors in their writing journey, which has led many to new opportunities and new doors that have been opened because of that one book that launched them into the spotlight and to share their stories.

My golden years were meant to be quiet, spending time with my children and grandchildren but I am glad it didn’t happen that way because I still have so much to offer and share. I am involved in my community, I write and share my stories, and I hope to someday be able to finish and publish my memoirs for my family.
