Building More Than a Business Creating a Legacy Through Service

Entrepreneurship was never something I planned out step by step. Looking back, I believe it was always my calling. Before starting my business, I worked in several different trades and industries trying to find where I truly fit. I worked in fire and flood restoration, for a garage door company, and later spent five years working for a surveying company before being laid off. After that, I transitioned into plumbing, but something still felt misaligned.

Even though I was gaining experience and learning valuable skills, I knew deep down I wanted to build something of my own. I wanted to create something meaningful that reflected my values, work ethic, and long term vision.

I first started a handyman business, taking on different types of work while learning how to operate independently. Over time, I noticed one service consistently stood out from the rest, junk removal. The demand was strong, customers appreciated reliable help, and I realized there was an opportunity to create a full service company focused entirely on helping people reclaim their space and reduce stress during difficult transitions. That realization led to the creation of Zap My Junk in Ontario, Canada.

Like many small businesses, we started simple. A truck, a trailer, and a willingness to work hard. In the beginning, every job mattered. Every phone call, every review, and every customer interaction helped shape the business. I quickly learned that in a service based industry, trust is everything. Customers are inviting you onto their property and into their homes. They want someone who shows up on time, communicates clearly, works respectfully, and follows through on their word. I believe those small details matter more than people realize. When customers trust you, they remember you, refer you, and continue supporting your business. That trust became the foundation of our growth.

As the company has expanded, I’ve also learned that growth is not only about getting more jobs. Real growth comes from building systems and standards that maintain quality as the business scales. Anyone can advertise, but maintaining consistency is what separates businesses that last from businesses that disappear after a few years.

For me, success is not simply about revenue. It is about creating something sustainable that can continue operating long term while serving the community in a positive way. I want Zap My Junk Removal to become a recognizable and respected regional brand built on professionalism, reliability, and customer care.

When I think about legacy, I think beyond myself. One day, I would like the business to operate independently and potentially be passed down to family members, including my nephews. Building a business that can continue creating opportunities for future generations is something that motivates me every day. Entrepreneurship comes with uncertainty, setbacks, and risk, but it also creates freedom, purpose, and personal growth. The journey taught me that success rarely happens overnight. It is built through consistency, adaptability, and continuing to move forward even when the path is unclear.

At the core of everything we do is service. We are not simply removing junk. We are helping homeowners, landlords, businesses, and property managers solve problems and move forward. Whether someone is downsizing, cleaning out a property, renovating, or dealing with a stressful life transition, being able to provide reliable help matters. I believe businesses that focus on genuine value and strong relationships are the ones that create lasting impact. That is the type of legacy I hope to continue building.
