When I founded Blood Law, PLLC seven and a half years ago, I envisioned more than just a law firm. I wanted to build a sanctuary, a place where families dealing with the complications of divorce and custody battles could find not just legal expertise, but genuine empathy and unwavering support. Today, with seven offices across North Carolina, I’m proud to say that vision has become a reality. But the journey hasn’t just been about building a successful business; it’s been about building a life of service, a life where giving back is as integral as breathing.
As a child of divorce, I understand the emotional challenges that families face. Then, when you add in the legal jargon, the court proceedings, the sheer uncertainty… it’s overwhelming for most people in an already emotional situation. My chance to make a difference came in the form of being a family law attorney. Once I began practicing, I quickly saw that to reach as many people as possible, I would need to build my own practice based on my own values and with a culture rooted in empathy. That’s why, at Blood Law, we don’t just represent clients; we walk alongside them, offering a compassionate hand and a listening ear. I founded my firm on the principle of concierge-level service, ensuring that every client feels heard, understood, and valued.
This commitment to service extends beyond the walls of my law firm. I believe that true leadership comes from empathy and a desire to make a difference. That’s why I’m passionate about volunteer work, particularly initiatives that uplift women and children.
One of the most profound ways I’ve given back to my community is through my involvement with local women’s shelters. We have been partners with the Union County Shelter for years. This shelter is located in my hometown of Union County, and that is also where our main office in Waxhaw is located. In 2023, we sponsored the “Pass The Plate” Event, which ultimately raised over $55,000 for the shelter that helps so many women and children in our town. Witnessing the resilience of women who have faced unimaginable hardships is both humbling and inspiring. It’s a stark reminder of the power of community and the importance of providing a safe haven for those in need. It is also a reminder to me, personally, of all the ways in which I have the potential to help others through my work as an attorney.
In today’s digital age, women have unprecedented opportunities to drive change. I have found social media platforms to be powerful tools for raising awareness, mobilizing support, and connecting with like-minded individuals. At Blood Law, we use our digital platforms to share educational content, provide resources, and amplify the voices of those we serve. For example, we post informational videos on Instagram reels to help educate people about family law and their options. I know that by leveraging technology, we can extend our reach and create a more equitable and just society.
As a woman-led business, Blood Law, PLLC is committed to creating social impact. We strive to be a beacon of hope for families in transition, offering emotional support and practical guidance in conjunction with legal representation. We strongly believe that by empowering our clients, we are empowering our community.
The mental and emotional benefits of volunteering are undeniable. Giving back provides a sense of purpose, reduces stress, and fosters a feeling of connection. It’s a reminder that we are all part of something larger than ourselves. In the stressful world of family law, volunteering can provide a much-needed sense of balance and perspective.
My team at Blood Law, PLLC shares my commitment to service. They are the heart and soul of our firm, and their dedication to our clients is truly inspiring. Together, we are building a legacy of compassion, advocacy, and unwavering support. For example, my firm provides clients with personalized support, community outreach and advocacy, client education and empowerment, and a mentoring/professional development program.
I encourage every woman to find her own way to give back. Whether it’s volunteering at a local charity, mentoring a young woman, or simply offering a kind word to someone in need, every act of service makes a difference. Let’s embrace the heart of giving and create a world where empathy, resilience, and purpose guide our actions.
