Congratulations to all of you who have been nominated or are supporting, celebrating, mentoring or glamming up an Emmy nominee! Each and every one of you have achieved something remarkable, and your hard work has paid off. Recall your early days when you landed a break, received a key introduction, or had a helping hand along the way? We are all where we are today as a result of the ‘village” of supporters who helped us along the way. As you step into this new chapter of success, I want to remind you of two essential things: self-care and healthcare advocacy which are neither selfish nor optional for anyone! Yes! celebrate your achievements, and also take time to rest, recharge your body and your mind. Success can be exhilarating, but it can also be draining. Prioritize self-care by practicing these habits: Getting enough sleep. Sounds so boring right, while you are sleeping your body is busy at work doing massive amounts of clean up and repair. To start the day fresh you need to give your systems time to do these essential jobs.
Nourishing your body with healthy food especially on stressful days. Eating clean, fresh, light and avoiding processed foods will make you feel energized!
Engage in activities that bring you joy, refresh your energy, and when your get busy define these as non-negotiable, don’t ever give up those activities!
Practicing mindfulness or meditation. Remember, you can’t pour “anything” from an empty cup. Take care of yourself so you can continue to shine brightly. Now let’s talk about what you advocate for from your position among the “known influencers”. Use your platform and your influence to determine what the world “sees”. My passion is for seniors, and the care they receive later in life. I am dedicated to growing my platform. After 35 years working in senior care I truly need help gaining the interest, awareness, to the needs of seniors. There are 60 million+ seniors in the US who need advocacy. They face unique challenges related to healthcare, loss of independence, loneliness, and financial security. They deserve well-informed empowered adult children or family members as their advocates. I am on a mission to support them all and I need your help! Could you share with anyone you know who is coping with an aging loved one my book, website, or social media posts.
You can be among the ‘village” that gives my voice amplification, makes a key introduction, and lends me a hand in my mission. A short post where you share my story and tag my network makes that introduction.
Would you share my book Prepared! A Healthcare Guide for Aging Adults” with your networks—both in person and online.
It is my goal that no senior lacks the awareness they need to navigate the healthcare system, and advocate for living at “home”. See the free resources and events offered from my website and share.
Your voice matters, and your actions can inspire change. I hope like me that you advocate for causes that matter to you. Remember, success isn’t just about the destination; it’s about the journey. Cherish every moment, uplift others, and practice self-care and self-love along the way. Wishing you continued joy at every turn!
With gratitude,
