Corporate IT Expert Brings Enterprise Solutions Downtown

After 17+ years in corporate IT, I made what everyone called a "backwards" career move in 2003 - leaving my stable corporate position to start Sundance Networks with zero guaranteed clients. The bold decision was targeting small and mid-size businesses with enterprise-level IT solutions, which was practically unheard of at the time.
The risk was massive because most IT providers focused on either large enterprises or basic computer repair - there was no proven market for bringing Fortune 500-level technology to Main Street businesses. I burned through my savings for months while building infrastructure that could deliver corporate-grade security and AI solutions to companies with 10-50 employees.
The change came when I realized these smaller businesses were desperate for the same protection and efficiency that big corporations took for granted. We now log 1000+ community service hours annually while serving everyone from medical practices to manufacturing companies, proving that enterprise solutions could scale down profitably.
The key insight for other entrepreneurs: look for the gap between what big players offer and what underserved markets actually need. Sometimes the best business opportunities exist in the spaces everyone else ignores because they seem "too small" or "too complicated."
