Dr. Jatali Bellanton has always believed that wealth encompasses more than financial assets; it includes knowledge, access, and the confidence to envision a future beyond one's circumstances. She began her journey in investment banking. Since then, she has successfully evolved into an angel investor, cultural thought leader, and a founding member-investor in the first Black-owned bank.
With a career grounded in strategy and storytelling, Dr. Jatali is committed to closing the racial wealth gap. She founded Kids Who Bank and Brilliant Minds Unite to equip underserved communities with the financial tools needed for lasting, generational change. Her work extends beyond the classroom as she helps develop inclusive financial systems that prioritize ownership, representation, and long-term community investment.
Recognizing the power of culture as a catalyst for change, Dr. Jatali recently served as executive producer of the documentary Hoops, Hopes, and Dreams. She is also a prominent voice on Disney’s America in the Black (streaming on Hulu), where she provides financial insights into cultural conversations about identity and equity. Her influence extends into the music industry, where she recently served as a producer on the Grammy-nominated track “Too Late” by Jesse Royal and Melanie Fiona. Across finance, film, and music, her core message remains consistent: storytelling is a powerful tool for empowerment.
Despite her many accomplishments, Dr. Jatali remains rooted in service. Her work continues to focus on shifting financial mindsets and creating pathways to ownership for underserved communities. Through education, investment, and cultural influence, she is redefining wealth-building and demonstrating that transformation is possible with access to knowledge and opportunity.
