For over two decades, Dr. Loria Hudson has been a guiding light in the world of counseling, education, and ministry. As the founder of Transformations Wellness Center, LLC and Children Are People Too, she has dedicated her life to strengthening families, empowering individuals, and helping people reconnect with their purpose. Her work reflects a simple but powerful belief: true healing begins when the mind, soul, and spirit align.

“The inspiration behind the creation of Transformations Wellness Center and Children Are People Too stemmed from my commitment to guiding individuals toward holistic well-being,” Dr. Hudson explains.

“My goal is to help others nurture themselves—mind, soul, and spirit—and to live in harmony within every aspect of their lives.” That passion began in her own childhood. Growing up in a home where her mother deeply loved God but her stepfather disregarded the voices of children, she learned early what it meant to be unheard. That experience planted the seed for her life’s mission—to advocate for those who feel unseen and undervalued.

Armed with academic expertise and spiritual conviction, Dr. Hudson holds a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy, a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in substance abuse, and a Bachelor’s in Ministry.

Her dissertation, Blended Families’ Experiences and Later Romantic Relationships, explored how early family experiences influence adult relationships. “My research emphasized the importance of acknowledging each family member’s experiences and perspectives,” she says. “Successful family blending requires patience, empathy, and open communication.” Those lessons continue to shape her counseling work with couples and families navigating complex emotional dynamics.

At Transformations Wellness Center, Dr. Hudson blends psychology and faith to help clients find balance and healing. “I integrate clinical expertise with spiritual principles that recognize the holistic needs of individuals and families,” she explains. “It’s about nurturing the mind, soul, and spirit while encouraging emotional and spiritual wholeness.” Her approach is compassionate and practical, equipping clients with tools that address both psychological and spiritual needs for lasting transformation.

Her trauma- and grief-informed practice serves clients across generations, from children to seniors. Through partnerships with local organizations, she offers specialized support to diverse communities. At the Ouachita Council on Aging, she provides education for caregivers of loved ones with dementia and chronic illness, helping them navigate their responsibilities with patience and understanding. She also teaches a program called Girl Power!, a prevention and intervention initiative that empowers girls ages nine to seventeen to build self-esteem, develop leadership skills, and form healthy habits. “Through mentorship and skill development, I’ve seen how confidence and resilience can be built from an early age,” she reflects. “And working with seniors has shown me how resilience continues to deepen through wisdom and faith.”

Her intergenerational work has given her a profound appreciation for connection and compassion. “When young people and seniors share their stories, both groups strengthen their capacity for empathy,” she says. “Resilience is something that grows when understanding and love bridge the gap between generations.”

Dr. Hudson’s mission to bring healing extends beyond the counseling room and into the media. She has appeared on national television as a guest on Faith to Believe and hosted her own radio show, Tell It Like It Is, which was nominated for Best Talk Show. She is preparing to launch her new podcast, Dr. Loria Hudson: Tell It Like It Is, where she will discuss real-life issues through the lens of faith. “This podcast will tackle everyday challenges with honesty and spiritual insight,” she explains. “It’s about empowering listeners with truth, compassion, and practical wisdom.”

As an author, Dr. Hudson continues to use her voice to inspire. Her children’s book, Dreams Take Flight, encourages young readers to believe in themselves and their potential. “Through storytelling, I want children to understand that faith, mentorship, and community support can help them reach their goals,” she says. “With belief and encouragement, they can soar and accomplish their dreams.”

At home, Dr. Hudson lives the same values she teaches. Married for more than twenty-eight years, she credits honesty and authenticity as the foundation of her long-lasting marriage. “One core principle that has helped me and my husband sustain our relationship is learning to be true to myself and sharing how I truly felt,” she says.

“That openness created trust and deeper understanding.”

Her personal motto, To Thine Own Self Be True, guides both her personal and professional life. “Embracing authenticity allows me to foster self-awareness and honest communication,” she explains. “Professionally, it inspires others to confront challenges honestly and pursue holistic wellness rooted in spiritual and emotional integrity.” This belief in authenticity, faith, and self-truth drives her work with individuals and families who are rebuilding their lives and rediscovering purpose.

Looking to the future, Dr. Hudson hopes to expand her impact through telehealth services, new community education programs, and her podcast. She envisions reaching more people who seek transformation but may not have access to traditional therapy. “My goal is to empower individuals and families to achieve holistic wellness and authentic living rooted in faith and self-truth,” she says. “It’s about inspiring transformation from within.”
