Straight out of university, I embarked on a career in the corporate world, driven by a burning desire to make a meaningful impact in the field of Health, Safety, and Environment. Little did I know that this journey would span 28 years, marked by numerous trials and triumphs that would shape me into the person I am today.
As a woman navigating the then, male-dominated landscape of my industry, I faced my fair share of challenges from the outset. Yet, armed with determination and a relentless pursuit of excellence, I forged ahead, determined to carve out my place in the corporate hierarchy. Despite my introverted nature, I understood the importance of stepping out of my comfort zone, seizing every opportunity to gain exposure and refine my skills. However, along the path to success, I encountered moments of profound self-doubt and self-criticism. There were times when I questioned my abilities and even sabotaged my own progress. Without the guidance of mentors to illuminate the way forward, I relied on sheer grit and resilience to navigate the treacherous waters of corporate life.
Through the ups and downs, I gleaned invaluable lessons about the power of embracing change and the necessity of staying true to oneself. Each setback became an opportunity for growth, each obstacle a stepping stone towards personal and professional development. But perhaps the greatest test of my resilience came when I received the unexpected news of my redundancy and subsequent retrenchment from my job. It was a devastating blow – one that shook me to the core and forced me to confront the harsh realities of corporate loyalty. I found myself at a crossroads, unsure of what the future held. In the depths of despair, I realized that I had a choice – to succumb to the weight of disappointment or to rise above adversity and forge a new path forward. Drawing upon my faith and inner strength, I made the courageous decision to chart a course of my own making, one that would lead me toward a life of purpose and fulfillment.

I have traded the confines of the corporate world for a life of autonomy and fulfillment, surrounded by like-minded individuals who inspire me to reach greater heights.
