Founder & CEO, The R.E.L.L.E. Legacy Foundation

La-Trenda Ross is a powerful example of faith, resilience, and leadership in action. In 2024, she discovered a lump while showering—an ordinary moment that led to an extraordinary journey. Within two months, she was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer, one of the most aggressive types of breast cancer. Yet from the very beginning, La-Trenda anchored herself in her unwavering belief in God. Her faith never wavered. She trusted God completely, declaring healing and strength over her life even in her darkest moments. Throughout her journey, the prayers and support of family, friends, colleagues, survivors, and even strangers surrounded her. She remains deeply humbled and grateful for every person who rooted for her. La-Trenda believes wholeheartedly that God brings people into our lives for a reason and a season, and she credits both divine presence and community support as powerful forces that carried her through. During treatment, La-Trenda continued working full-time in her leadership role with the Hudson County Department of Family Services, where she oversees the Title XX Homemaker Program. Despite the physical and emotional demands of cancer, she remained committed to supporting the seniors, families, and vulnerable residents she has served for more than 30 years. Her leadership did not pause—it strengthened. Her story, grounded deeply in faith, was published by Astera Cancer Care, shared across community platforms, and amplified through speaking engagements and advocacy work. In 2026, her journey will be featured in a national survivorship documentary premiering at The Remission Film Festival, reflecting the impact of her experience and her dedication to raising awareness.

Inspired by her five grandchildren—Razhonne, Evee, Lavender, Laylah, and Evan—La-Trenda founded The R.E.L.L.E. Legacy Foundation, launching in January 2026. The foundation provides financial assistance, early detection advocacy, empowerment workshops, and community support for anyone impacted by breast cancer. Its first event, Brave & Beyond Pink: Together We Rise, awarded three cancer patients with $250 grants to help them cover essential expenses such as groceries, utilities, and phone services. Through her foundation, La-Trenda continues to merge her lived experience, spiritual grounding, and leadership skills to build programs that uplift and empower. She is known throughout Hudson County for her compassion, strategic vision, and commitment to health equity. Her ability to connect agencies, inspire communities, and advocate for survivors reflects her lifelong dedication to service. Now nearly two months in remission, La-Trenda continues treatment while advancing her foundation’s mission and deepening her advocacy work. Her story embodies strength, purpose, and unshakeable faith. She believes her journey was not just about surviving cancer, but about transforming it into a mission that supports others.
La-Trenda Ross is more than a survivor— she is a faith-filled leader, a resilient advocate, and the visionary behind a foundation built to help others rise, heal, and find hope.
