How Constant Connectivity Changed the Way We Experience Beauty and Wellness

I don’t think we were ever fully prepared for how connected life would become. At some point, being online stopped feeling occasional and simply became our normal. We wake up to notifications, spend our days moving between screens, answer emails late at night, scroll to unwind, and somehow still feel overstimulated all the time. Somewhere along the way, I started realizing this constant pace was affecting more than our stress levels — it was affecting our skin too.
I noticed it in myself first. My skin always looked tired, dull, dehydrated, and reactive in ways I couldn’t fully explain. The more I researched prolonged screen exposure, blue light, oxidative stress, free radicals, environmental aggressors, and photoaging, the more I realized skincare conversations really hadn’t caught up to the way we live today.
For so long, beauty felt focused on fixing flaws and chasing perfection. But the more I looked around, the more I realized people were exhausted — mentally, emotionally, and physically. We’re constantly connected, constantly stimulated, and always in front of screens, and I started noticing that my skin was reflecting that nonstop pace right along with me. That realization became the foundation for Skin & Vine™ and our Tri Defense™ philosophy. I wanted to create skincare designed for the realities of modern living — products focused on helping defend the skin barrier against digital exposure first, while also helping support skin exposed to oxidation, free radicals, environmental stressors, and photoaging associated with today’s screen-driven lifestyles.
To me, beauty today feels much more connected to wellness than it did even a few years ago. Skincare routines have become less about perfection and more about restoration. For many people, those few quiet minutes spent applying skincare are one of the only moments in the day that feel calm and uninterrupted.
I think that’s why consumers are moving away from aggressive routines and overly complicated beauty trends. People want skincare that feels supportive, wearable, restorative, and aligned with real life.
Building Skin & Vine has also taught me a lot personally. Starting a business from the ground up forces you to confront uncertainty, fear, self-doubt, and failure in ways nobody really prepares you for. But I’ve realized that unstoppable women are not fearless women — they’re women who continue moving forward even while they’re scared.

At the end of the day, I don’t think the future of beauty is about perfection anymore. I think it’s about helping people feel more balanced, supported, and connected to themselves again while they navigate through the realities of an always connected world.
Because in a world that never really slows down, caring for yourself becomes more than beauty.
It becomes self-preservation.
