I Dare You

I have gone from "Writer in the making" to a purposeful writer, becoming a two-time best-selling author. I have authored four books and have been featured in two magazines, Black Diamond and Success 2 Success. I never knew I had a desire or a love for writing and now do not know what I would do without writing.

I recently started writing two years ago because of a dare from one of my girlfriend’s. She was telling me about her participation in an anthology book project, I merely thought and said aloud, “I could do something like that.” My friend says jokingly, “Okay let’s see!” I laughed and thought no more about it until one evening I received a phone call from the visionary of this book project. The woman went on to tell me that I came highly recommended from a friend and that she would like for me to be a part of this book project. I thought about it and put this before God and have been writing ever since.

Through writing I have learned my God given purpose which is to inspire readers to rise above life’s challenges and pursue their own greatness. I had to learn that telling your story is not about being ready, it is about being willing. An important lesson I am learning as we speak, I do not have to tell everything at once, I started by sharing a small moment. Now, I am about to publish my first journal, I am working on my own devotional, and book.

If you have a dream or desire to do write, go for it. Everyone has a story, but few share theirs—only you can tell your story best. So today I dare you to tell your own story, not the perfect version, but the real one. Because someone out there is waiting on your truth to unlock their own.
