Hello Lucia Matuonto, congratulations on your new book Peaceful Valley: Where Quirks Become Superpowers!
Q1: What inspired you to write Peaceful Valley?
A: We live in a world that constantly tells us to “fix” ourselves—our looks, our habits, even our personalities. For years, I believed that message and tried to smooth out the parts of me that didn’t feel normal. But through conversations with beautifully imperfect people, I realized our quirks aren’t flaws at all—they’re clues to who we really are. Peaceful Valley was born from that realization.
Q2: How would you describe the town of Peaceful Valley?
A: Peaceful Valley is a small town filled with big personalities. It’s charming, chaotic, and overflowing with people who have fully embraced their oddities. After a post-pandemic slump devastates the local economy, the town’s most eccentric residents step up to help—despite having no plan, no experience, and absolutely no idea what they’re doing.
Q3: Who are the heroes of the story?
A: The heroes are the town’s most unlikely residents—well-meaning, slightly clueless, and completely unfiltered. They’re not polished or prepared, but they’re genuine. And that’s what makes them perfect. Their quirks become the very things that save the town.
4: What role does humor play in the book?
A: Humor is at the heart of Peaceful Valley. The story is filled with disasters, misunderstandings, and questionable decision-making that’s laugh-out-loud funny. But beneath the comedy, there’s a deeper message about self-acceptance and embracing who you truly are.
Q5: What message do you hope readers take away from the story?
A: You don’t have to change who you are to make an impact. Your quirks aren’t mistakes, and your differences aren’t limitations. In fact, the things you’ve been told to hide may be your greatest strengths—and sometimes, they’re exactly what the world needs.
Q6: Why was it important for you to highlight “quirks” as strengths?
A: Because we’re often taught to hide or fix what makes us different. I wanted to flip that idea on its head and show that what we call flaws can actually be superpowers.
In Peaceful Valley, those quirks aren’t just helpful—they’re the town’s only hope.
Q7: What kind of reading experience did you want to create?
A: I wanted the book to feel like comfort food with a spark—something that makes readers laugh while also making them feel seen. A story that gently whispers, “You’re enough,” and then proudly shouts it when the quirky heroes save the day in the most unexpected ways.
Q8: Who is this book for?
A: This book is for anyone who’s ever felt different, out of place, or “too much.” If you’ve ever been told to tone yourself down or smooth out your edges, Peaceful Valley was written for you.
Q9: What makes Peaceful Valley different from other small-town stories?
A: Instead of polished heroes and perfect solutions, this story celebrates chaos, imperfection, and authenticity. The town doesn’t get saved despite the characters’ quirks—it gets saved because of them.
Q10: Where can readers find Peaceful Valley?
A: Peaceful Valley is available on Amazon.
