Returning to the Roots of Beauty

I am an esthetician, holistic nutrition specialist, spa owner, and educator in Asheville, North Carolina. I have been self employed in esthetics for 12 years, and started literally from the ground up while raising my son as a single mom.
I moved to Asheville 5 years ago and rebranded to start fresh in a new location. I relied heavily on Instagram to attract new clients, posting videos of my facial massage techniques. Soon I had a following of not only potential new clients, but other estheticians, many of them asking where I learned my techniques and if I would ever consider teaching.
In the meantime, I moved from a single room and solo practice to a three treatment room building and hired and trained multiple estheticians to work under me. I've been featured in Dermascope magazine, Bella magazine, and have been quoted in the Vital Proteins blog and HuffPost.
Fast forward 5 years, and I now teach advanced facial massage to estheticians across the country- some often fly in from the west coast to train with me here in Asheville. I am continually humbled and inspired by the community I have found in my students- they are passionate about their craft, eager to learn, and are some of the most genuinely kind people that care deeply about creating the most therapeutic treatments for their clients.
In my own evolution, and this season in particular, I am reminded just how transformational touch can be. As estheticians, we are constantly led to believe that we need fancy, expensive tools and machines in our practices to see real results, and yet, I am seeing better results when I work the underlying structure of the skin through fascia release and lymphatic drainage. It truly feels like a stripping down of all the noise we are fed, and remembering that I have everything I need, literally at my fingertips, to offer my clients outstanding results.
I think as women this is so in sync with our experiences and growth. We are told we need so many things, when in reality, the true power is in letting all that go, and in doing so we find our truths. As a lover of the sea, I think this honors the simple rhythms of nature as well. I see the pureness and honesty of the water and it all seems quite simple. Tune in, exhale the fuss, and this is where we find what matters.
One thing I want women to know about beauty in 2025 is that glow truly comes from within. There is no product or thing we can buy that can outperform self care. Our sleep, diet, lifestyle, and even our thoughts play a crucial role in how we hold our bodies, which affects everything about how we feel and look.
