What do Stevie Wonder, Chuck Lorre, Sophia Bush, and General Hospital have in common with an out-of-work mom in Detroit or a domestic abuse survivor?

More than you realize.

Celebrity stylist Sam Russell has worked in show business for over two decades and heads The Wardrobe Dept. Noticing the over-gifting allotted to the well-heeled in Los Angeles, Sam decided to do something about it. Since 2011, Sam has re-routed designer clothing and fashionable overstock to cancer survivors, domestic abuse survivors, schoolteachers, and single moms reentering the workforce.

Sam currently plays the Tailor on ABC’s General Hospital.

The Giving Closet is dedicated in special honor of his loving friend and former Giving Closet supporter, Kelly Turner, an Austin-based Southwest Airlines flight attendant who was murdered by her boyfriend on November 1, 2014. Abuse is a subject Sam and many of the women he surprises know all too well. So, he's made it his mission to break the DNA code of suffering in his own family tree by uplifting and celebrating strong women who persevere through hardships and go on to thrive.

"I want to celebrate these women I find through social workers and non-profits in the same way we celebrate celebrities on the Hollywood landscape. No woman should ever be stuck in an impossible situation.

If our famous socialites can benefit from this abundant amount of clothing set aside for them, then why can't the people that idolize them and keep them in these coveted positions of "celebrity" also get a little help?" - Sam Russell
