Solo Traveling as a Female

My heart sank. What was I doing?! I thought as I got off the plane. But as the self-doubt came, it quickly left. I knew what I was doing would work out, it always does. So, I started my first solo trip as a female in the lovely country of Croatia. My eyes took in all the ancient structures and I stared in awe at the old towers and castles. I had no idea how this trip would go. But I knew that it would be a new experience!
Traveling with Traverse Journeys
It didn’t take long until I connected with our group and the plan was to go on a 7 day tour through Croatia. However, what was surprising was that our group were all women and many of them worked in social media, or photography. So, that was interesting! Plus, it was the beginning of my travel blog journey. So, I got to learn so much from the others! This trip was planned by Traverse Journeys and they are all about giving back to the communities that they visit.
Besides that, they wanted to give a variety of activities and freetime so that each one of us still had time to enjoy what we wanted to see. One of the days we did a clean up on a beach and another we got to have freetime. So, in that time I found a great local hiking spot with an unmistakably beautiful view. As I climbed up, I was surrounded by locals and I finally made it to the top to see the sunrise. My heart hammered to life and I felt as giddy as a girl as I took in the nature that surrounded me. It didn’t take long to meet up with some of the girls in the group again and I quickly learned that a few of them were interested in this hidden gem that I had found. So, I hiked back up to show them, which the view blew their minds as well!
Solo Traveling
As I reflect back on this trip, it wouldn't have been the same if I hadn’t done it solo. Traveling solo opens doors for you that you may haven't even noticed. It’s not until you go through it that you realize how important and special it is to do things in your own way. It’s a great time to figure out what you truly want and maybe find some new friends.
Each day I had a chance to reflect on myself and do some self-discovery. It helped me bring my independence to life. I hadn’t even noticed until I went on this trip that I was becoming used to traveling with my hubby. I was starting to become dependent on him and once I realized that, I was grateful that I took this trip. It felt revitalizing to go on this trip, reconnect with myself and others.
Traveling Solo Can be Fun!
Some of the best things when it comes to traveling solo is that you don’t have to think about anyone else but yourself! You can truly do what YOU want and when you want. I know that there are times being a mom that you may have yourself low on your own priority list. But that can be the same for many females. Many cultures and societies have women in a light to help others, which is great! However, we tend to forget ourselves in the mix.
So, traveling solo is a wonderful way for you to be there for you! This is a way to give yourself that much needed self-care!
GreetHer Can Help!
Now, I get it! It can seem scary to travel solo, especially if you’ve never done it! But that’s why I recommend going on a tour where you don’t have to be alone. Or, connect with GreetHer. This company is ALL about helping women travel solo. This company connects you with a local in the place that you want to travel to and that local lady will plan your trip, be a guide and help you find what you want to see! So, even when you’re traveling solo, you’re not really all by yourself!
This is a good way to help you start trying out solo traveling and once you do, your world will change and grow wider!
